How many is too many?

I have recently started planning me and my fiance's wedding just one problem, how many is too many for a bridal party?  I have several really close friends and if I would put everyone we have named it would be 10 plus me and plus flower girl. HELP

    Hi and congratulations on your engagement! It depends on how many people you can afford to have in your bridal party - flowers, meals (plus their SOs), etc. Every extra person, of course, adds more expense. A good way to pick a bridal party is to think about those people you would call at 2 a.m. to get rid of a body. That list? That's your BP. And I also recommend not asking anyone until about 6-9 months before your wedding - it's still plenty of time to get dresses and relationships can change, even between you and your closest friends, and of course you can't kick them out.

    10 plus you plus the flower girl just for your side or for both your side and your FI's side?  If just for your side, that could get to be a bit much.  I agree with @keptinstitches that you should keep the list to the people you truly could call on for anything, any time of the day.

    This is great advice!

    I the only thing I would add is that you should consider how big your wedding is. If you're having an intimate 50 person wedding 10 BMs would look a little ridiculous. But if you are having a huge 400 person wedding 10 wouldn't seem so silly.

    In general I think 5-6 is a good max.
