Bachelorette Party - Hangover kits

So I saw this idea a while back and wanted to do it for my bachelorette party which is this coming weekend in San Diego.

For my kits I included:

Bottled water

Tylenol

Lip balm

Chewing gum

Hair scrunchie

Peanuts/nuts

I was thinking I could also toss in a mini bottle of booze. So far these kits have cost about $7 bucks each. I am going to do a purple label to tie into our purple/green color scheme. Any of you doing kits like this? Would you find them useful? Any ideas how to dress them up a bit?

  • I think it's a nice gesture. I think exactly what you have is more than enough and very nice. You could punch holes in the top and weave a purple ribbon through to cinch them up. Curl it at the ends.

  • My daughter did something similar in guest bags for those who stayed at the hotel after her wedding. She made a tag that said "Hangover Helper" (parody of Hamburger Helper). She included saltines, 7 UP, Pepto Bismal, Tums, bottled water, and Tylenol. She also bought inexpensive eye/sleeping masks from the Dollar Store. Her peers definitely made good use of them, as did a few of her uncles.
  • Since you're asking for opinions...I personally don't use generic/store brand items, so no, I would not find this useful.

It's nice that you wanted to do something, but most people bring their own necessities, so I think you might've wasted your money.

  • itzMS then that is too bad too sad. I for one would hope they think it's the thought that counts. But I suppose going the cheap route doesn't always work out in your favor.

  • @vainemerald, I never said it wasn't a thoughtful idea.

You asked for opinions! What you're supplying isn't for me.

If I were in your shoes, I would've rather spent my money on buying breakfast (coffee and bagels) for everyone the next morning.

  • itzMS touché, didn't really think of that. That is a good point!

  • The items don't have to be generic brand if it is mini sizes.  Those single use packets of Tylenol come in a box for $3.  So the cost per packet is less than $1.  The Planters boxes of single serving nuts are about $7 for 6 individual servings.  I'd like the kit even more if it was mini sizes--I could eat the snack, take the Tylenol, and toss the package.  One picky note: I'm not a doctor, but I've heard enough of the commercials and read the warnings that if you've been drinking, Tylenol is a poor OTC painkiller choice because it puts stress on your liver.  I've taken Tylenol after drinking and I didn't die, but just an FYI.  Maybe you could throw some Advil in instead.

PP is right.  Not a doctor either but I have taken a pharmacology course and administered medications to patients and you need to be very careful with tylenol and alcohol.  Especially if you have someone who has previous liver damage.

Also, are you 100% sure that none of your party goers has a peanut or nut allergy?  Just something to keep in mind.

I think it's a cute idea but I personally like the PP's idea of a morning after breakfast better.

  • I'm pretty sure the OP already bought the items...so suggesting she get others is kind of a moot point.

They are good points for anyone else lurking on this post and considering this idea.
