Maid of Honor Questions

I want my aunt to be my maid of honor but she is 49 (will be 51 at the wedding) but she is gay has a long time girlfriend (at least 25-30 years) but has never been married - does she still "qualify" for maid of honor status? I dont want to offend her but I also want to surprise her so asking her is kinda out of the question at least without blowing the surprise.

Anyone have any insight on this? I would really appreciate it!

That being said, your friend will have to pull on her big girl panties and deal with it. Just say "I'm sorry you're upset. I didn't mean to hurt any feelings. I hope you will still be my bridesmaid and have a blast with me."

And then leave it alone; she shouldn't have said anything about it in the first place.

I don't see how age or sexual orientation would have any effect on who you select as your MOH. (Hell, I'm seeing more and more brides going with a man-of-honor!) Pick whoever you'd like to be by your side on your wedding day.
