Need some love for the Friday wedding crew :) Mine will be September 26 th. Of course I wanted a Saturday wedding but for $1000 cheaper we changed our minds. We figure a years notice should make it so it's not a problem for folks.

Any other advantages to having a Friday wedding?

    We are having a Friday wedding too @HMAmara :) One of our big dilemmas when looking at venues was so many of them won't allow you to bring outside vendors and on Saturdays they'd often force you to have a minimum food and beverage amount which sometimes was close to $5000. We finally found a venue we loved and they also allowed outside vendors and it was much less for a Friday or Sunday wedding. After talking with our parents, family and other VIPs they said a Friday wedding worked for them so that was why we chose Friday.  I don't know about your circle but many of our friends and family don't work traditional M - F jobs so either way they might have had to take a day off anyway.

    I think advantages of Friday weddings often have to do with prices. One thing we didn't want to skimp out on was food and drinks so by saving an extra $1000 by having our wedding on Friday, we can put this towards food, drinks, and other things for our guests. We're also starting our ceremony at 6:30 or 7 so this could give guests the opportunity to come after work or only leave an hour early or what not.

    I never thought I'd have a Friday wedding but, it's worked out well so far for us. I'm getting really excited getting to book all our vendors now, and a lot of them aren't surprised at all by us having a Friday wedding.

    I'm Friday the 26th too!!  Just booked today, contracts are in the mail!  We chose Friday for the affordability.  Although we found that Sunday prices were often the same, we liked the idea of a Friday, as it gave people the weekend to recuperate & have both their weekend days free.  I feel  if we had a Sunday, people would feel they needed to take off Monday.  We too are also having a later ceremony to allow people a chance to come after work with only needing to leave a little earlier, instead of taking the whole day.

    We are doing our engagement photos this weekend and planning to send Save The Dates in the new year.  Plenty of notice.  

    The other new, hot trend is Thursdays!  So Fridays aren't that unusual anymore!

    @HH2Be we are doing our engagement photos this weekend too, I'm really excited! We almost picked September 26th too but, my parents were going to be out of town that weekend so we bumped it a week ahead.

    @Couggal12, where are you doing your photos?  We don't have a photographer yet, we're using a friend who does photography.  It makes it when more special.  We're going to Bear Mountain. The weather is going to be great!

    @HH2Be we are doing them at a park by our house. Our photographer recommended the spot and we are excited because of all the fall colors that are outside. That's awesome you have a friend to do your photos! I bet they'll turn out amazing.

    I agree, my ceremony won't start until 6pm so people that still want to work can do so I feel. I also have a lot of unconventional work hours going on which I didn't think about so they should be good. :)

    I'm Friday because I wanted the date of the 5th... Its my grandfather's anniversary and he is no longer with us, so I thought of different ways that I could honor him.  We also were okay with the Friday date because it was cheaper, my mom was hoping for Friday since she is paying, we were going to wait until 2015, with the 5th will be on a Saturday.  My FI didn't want to wait that long though ;-)
