Ceremony Music

One month to go until.....WEDDING MONTH!

One of our last "to do" items is to plan our ceremony music: processional, sand ceremony and recessional.  We're thinking non-traditional and I was wondering if any of my fellow November Brides have made any ceremony music plans yet.  I'd love to hear what you're choosing!

Re: Ceremony Music

  • The groomsmen will escort the mothers/grandmothers and the groom will enter to the piano guys "home".

Bridesmaids and I will enter to the piano guys "a thousand years."

We will leave the ceremony to "walking on sunshine"

  • The moms, grandparents, groomsmen, groom and pastor are all entering to our prelude classical music provided by the guitarist. He has this mixture of classical tunes he was going to play that he can change up as different people walk down the aisle.

The bridesmaids and myself are walking down to "I won't give up" by Jason Mraz on the guitar.

Our recessional is "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz and the postlude will be the classical tunes again.
  • We just chose some of ours last night!

I'll be walking down to "Can't help falling in love with you" by Ingrid Michaelson.

And then walking out we will be using "God gave my you" by Blake Shelton

Ours is definitely non traditional.   Our celebrant is doing all the music on a native American flute.  He and FI will walk in together to  a traditional warrior song.  He has a special bridal song prepared for my entrance.  Throughout the ceremony he'll play different traditional songs that go with the different prayers and blessings.  I have never heard any of them.

Before our friend asked us if he could marry us and do our music I had very firm, more traditional, preconceived ideas about all the music and songs. ( I wanted to walk down the aisle to a solo, acoustic guitar version of John Denver's Annie's Song.)  At first it was hard to let go of that but now I'm actually really glad I did and am excited that I can focus on FI only and not be listening for things to go the way I think they should.

  • We are going pretty traditional but we are getting  married in the Catholic church so we needed to keep it traditional. Here's what we have:

Bridesmaids march - Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, Johann Sebastian Bach
Bridal march - Canon in D, Johann Pachelbel
Responsorial - Psalm 33, The Earth Is Full of The Goodness of The Lord
Alleluia - John 4:12, If we love one another God remains in us, and His love is brought to perfection in us
Offertory - I Have Loved You, Michael Joncas
Communion - When Love Is Found, Brian Wren
Meditation - Ave Maria, Franz Schubert, Op. 52
Recessional - Wedding March (from "A Midsummer Night's Dream"), Felix Mendelssohn
  • I want to find a way to incorporate Sara Bareiles' "Choose You" into our ceremony somewhere... but I'm not sure where.

It might be a cute song for a sand ceremony (I'm not doing one, but a suggestion for you).
  • Another question related to this. Is anyone else using a DJ for the ceremony? I was going to try and find live musicians but since I have 31 days left I think I'm just going to ask the DJ to do it.

I'm using my DJ for both. There was a $100 extra fee for the extra hour - 30 min of people entering the room, 30 minutes of ceremony.
  • We're using the DJ for our ceremony and reception. We haven't thought of all of our music yet but I'm also walking down the aisle to Ingrid Michaelson's version of Can't help falling in love. I'm open to suggestions for seating of the families and bridesmaids. Woohoo November brides!!
  • I'm using The Piano Guys "Home" for my bridemaids and myself.  I absolutely love it!
  • Well i didnt even consider music to play while people walk in (guests) so i have no idea on that!

I have no idea! I have songs picked out but then the timing is off on them and i have NO idea!
