I am sorry if this has been asked or if it is not the correct board...

I was wondering if you get ushers a gift of some sort? I have asked family and friends and they have been pretty much split between yes and no. Some said it is rude NOT to get them a gift since they're part of the wedding party.

What do you think?

P.S. I have no issue with getting a gift. I was just curious as to what the etiquette was.

Edited: forgot a line.

  • I gave ours gifts. Even if it's not required, it's never rude to give a gift, so you might as well. It doesn't have to be huge;a nice bookmark and a handwritten card of thanks was perfect for one of mine.

Yes, get them a gift. They are part of your wedding party.
  • Get them something. It doesn't have to be over the top.
  • We had ushers and considered then part of the WP. We gave them gifts at the RD along with the rest of the WP. I think its rude to ask them to usher for you and NOT get then a gift. Doesn't have to be big but just a token of your appreciation.

I think it would be nice to get them something.  ETA I don't think it is overly rude to not give them one but they should get something, doesn't have to be fancy.

  • Thanks! I am thinking of giving them a gift card or something to a restaurant I know they like.

That sounds perfect!  That is exactly (a part) of what I'm doing for our wedding party.
