Should I Start Stressing Yet?

Today is seven months till the big day!!! On Oct 6, it will be a year since we have been engaged, wanted to finish college before the wedding and wanted a spring wedding :)
so far I have book... The venue (which thank the lord is amazing, they set EVERYTHING up for you and have a vendor guid for almost everything that has been beyond perfect in helping with everything) ** booked back in January
I got THE DRESS, and a second to change into
Flowers are book
Photography
Save the dates are ordered and ready to send out this month
Cake is booked
Wedding party is picked (dress shopping for the girls this Sunday)
Videographer in working on the contract
We have two "extras" booked - caricature artist and a donut truck
Honeymoon booked
Bridal pictures booked for April
DJ - working with a few for pricing
I feel like at this point I have a lot done but I also feel like I should be stressing out for how much I have left to do

Am I as far behind as I feel that I am?

Re: Should I Start Stressing Yet?

  • You are way ahead of me!   All I have so far is a venue, dj, photographer and dress!  I haven't made any honeymoon plans, and don't have anyone to even marry us yet...eek.
  • I feel like the knot checklist is very helpful.  At first it seemed a little overwhelming, but now its nice to see how many things I've checked off and what's coming up.

I don't think you're far behind.  Just try to take 1 thing at a time.  If its stressing you out put it aside, do something else and go back to it.  That seems to help me.

  • I agree! I have found The Knot Checklist to be super helpful! Especially if you have a smartphone? I recommend the app.
  • If you're behind I have no idea what that makes me. I just got engaged two weeks ago and booked our venue this morning...and that's all we have so far.

It sounds like you've made a lot of headway! Don't look at that silly knot checklist too much because it thinks you should have everything booked like 5 years out (or that's how it feels to me anyway).
  • It's true that some of the stuff on the list won't apply to everyone, but you just skip over it or cross it off. And a few things they have on there a little earlier than we did them... but you let it sit on the list, but personally we did things pretty close to the months to ensure we'd get what we want. And it sure helps to make sure you don't forget things. It good at breaking down the 12 months leading up to the big day.
It's also good at breaking down your budget as well, which I found very helpful.
  • You can delete things on the list, too -- if you tap where the words are, a gear appears to the left and you have the option to delete the item from the checklist completely :)

so far I have a venue, photographer, and honeymoon booked. That is it.

Going tomorrow to look for my dress and possibly bridesmaids dresses. Not stressed though. I can't really do a whole lot with my work schedule. Will have to wait till after football season.
