The Capital Club was in our top 2 choices or our wedding, but we ended up going with the Valley Dale just because it fit our theme better.

The Capital Club is GORGEOUS - if you haven't seen it, go do so. You don't need to spend money on chair covers or anything, but if you want them they have them. You can choose ANY color linens or napkins. Diana is in charge of the events there, and she used to be a wedding planner; she's EXTREMELY helpful and patient. She knew me on a first name basis, helped us in any way we can, and she bought us lunch on her @ the Club so we could taste their food (you have to use their caterer). Their food is not bad, but it's not spectacular. To each their own though, so you never know -- my fiance and I are very picky about food.

Their pricing is VERY flexible - I don't know what your budget is, but they'll work with it. The Capital Club is on the 7th floor of a huge building, and the 7th floor is directly across from the lobby of a Doubletree Hotel (the floors in the buildings are really weird, because it's like they're stacked since they're on top of a parking garage - to park there, go past High St., and turn down Wall St. and there's a parking garage there. After 5pm it's a $3 flat rate for parking, just keep that in mind for your guests - but you can pay for it for them).

They have a spot for the ceremony, and for the reception. I'm not too keen on the ceremony area, but you'd have to see it for yourself. The reception area, I LOVE though. It seats about 150 I believe, and has an outside terrance overlooking the city which I think is gorgeous. There's a cute little area with couches and everything that looks fancy for your cocktail hour, too. Also, they don't have ANY other weddings there on your day, so it's all to yourself, and they're really flexible with set up time and that too, you can pretty much have the whole day, and you get the entire 7th floor (at least on Saturdays.. they're open on Fridays to their members, so it may not be the same).

Their cheapest package includes a choice of 2 plated dinners if you want, and includes liquor, beer, and wine all night for $60 per person. However, if that is out of your budget (as it was mine, because remember gratuity and tax which I believe is 20% and 6.75% there like it is basically everywhere else) you can bring that price down by having a paid bar part of the night and cash the other part, or beer and wine the whole night and cash mixed drinks, it's up to you and Diana will work with you.

There's an attendant where their secretary normally is that will be there all day, and they will watch your gifts and get them ready at the end of the night for you. Their minimum on Friday is $3,000, and on Saturday is $4,000.

One downside to the place is it's kinda hard to find at first, but they do have a list of very detailed instructions you could give your guests, or they'll put signs out for you to help people find your wedding, stuff like that. It's smack dab in the middle of downtown (so the view from that terrace I mentioned is amazing).

Any other questions, let me know. We were very close to signing a contract with them, and personally, I wish we could have Diana be our event coordinator with the Valley Dale (nothing wrong with Dana, but Diana will work with you on EVERYTHING and answer any questions, no matter how 'stupid' you may think they are).

omg   thanks so much.  I love the place from pictures and i am meeting with her on tuesday.  It is in our price range so as long as i like the actual venue in place ill probably book it.

Diana does seem amazing.  She has already been great in emails and i have never even met her.

Thanks so much for your help and ill let you know how it goes on Tuesday.

I didn't look at the Capital Club for my wedding, but my office is connected to the Club and we use them very frequently for catering, meetings, etc. I work with Diana and also with Erica, and both of them are VERY helpful and easy to work with! I'm sure they'd be a pleasure to work with when planning your wedding/reception. Personally, I think the food is really good as well :)

Ahh, no problem! Diana was so good to me I'd definitely recommend her especially since I didn't get to use the Capital Club! We were just going with a Big Band Era style, and Valley Dale fits that quite well.

WAIT! Tuesday was today. How'd it go?

  • Hey It looks like this is older post so wedding should be done. I just booked at Capital Club how did it go?
  • Sorry @cd333201, but I don't think these ladies have been active for awhile. I have been to events, not a wedding tho, at cc and they were very nice. The food was excellent and photos I've seen from weddings there always look classy.
    GL!

  • Who are you working with at The Capital Club?  We went there last Spring and wanted to book so bad, but the coordinator Elizabeth Holycross was terrible and never even emailed me back after our second visit to arrange time for me to bring the deposit! For that reason we started looking other places.  BUT i loved it so much there! I actually just emailed them again and elizabeth is GONE (thank goodness) and they sent my email to the new coordinator so I am talking to her soon!
Did you visit recently? Do you know if they still went ahead with the renovations they told us about in the Spring? Or if they haven't started them yet?  We are definitely planning to reconsider capital club because we soo loved it!
