  We had a small registry at Crate and Barrel for a specific shower someone threw for us. We didn't go to a registry event (did everything online), but we got a ton of coupons in the mail as soon as we signed up. Saved us a lot of time and sales pitches.

  We registered at Crate & Barrel, but didn't go to any events. We just stopped by the store one day. They showed us how to use the gun and left us alone while we went crazy scanning stuff. It was really nice. They were helpful when we had questions, but didn't bug us or try to get us to register for extra stuff.

  We went to an event and had a blast.  The staff was there to answer questions and they had a Wustoff representative there and he explained all of the knives to us and we walked away with a free gift from the rep.  That said, the staff also wasn't pushy and didn't try to convince us to register for anything we didn't want.  They were there to basically answer questions.  And the free breakfast was a bonus.
