New was my dress, blue was my garter, borrowed was my mom's family ring, and old was a small pin that used to be my grandmother's. The small pin actually wouldn't hold the day of, so I used my mom's family ring as a combination of old & borrowed as a last resort. :)

You could ask a grandmother, your mom, an aunt even, to borrow something of theirs, as your 'borrowed' or 'old.' Broaches or pins can go on the inside of your dress. An old picture can be pinned to the inside of your dress too. A necklace, ring, earrings? I'm sure someone will have something! :)

     Good luck searching!!

  • Old-My groom!  LOL!!  KIDDING!!  :)

An ivory broach that is part of an earrings/necklace/broach set my grandmother gave me when I was born.  We're affixing the broach to my bouquet.

New-My gown.  My jewelry.  All that various stuff.

Borrowed-The sixpence my mother wore in her shoe when she married my dad (we're also hanging this off my bouquet).

Blue-My mom made my petticoat/crinoline for under my gown, and she did the hem and the layer with blue thread.

The sixpence in -my- shoe is one my mother bought and gave to me at my bridal shower from the year of my fiancee's birth (1967).

I just thought it would be awesome to have MY own sixpence but to also carry my mom's since she and dad have been together almost 40 years now, so I'm hoping a bit of their "good luck" (and hard work!) rubs off on my marriage!
  • I haven't gotten most yet but here is what I'm planning:
Old:  FI's grandmother's bracelet.  Unfortunately, she passed away a couple years ago.
    New:  Dress
Borrowed:  I might see if I can wear the same earrings my mom wore.
    Blue:  Garter

  • Old: A lace hanker-chief of hand tatted lace that was my great grandmothers, which is pinned inside my dress.

    New: Dress, Shoes, etc.

Borrowed: The hanker-chief and as well as the opal necklace- borrowing them both from my mother.

Blue: The Opal Necklace my great-great grandfather made for my great grandmother.  The opals have a beautiful blue sheen.
  • Old-My groom!  LOL!!  KIDDING!!  :)

    LOL!!

I love hearing what everyone is doing!   None of our grandparents are still living, so I hope there is a piece of jewelry or something from one of my grandmothers as my something old, to have a part of them with me.

  • Old- My dress and my mom married my father through Catholic church 3 months before passing so groom is giving me the wedding ring my dad gave her that day.

    New-Veil, hair flower brooch

    Borrowed- Grandmothers earrings

Blue- My shoe soles :D (Betsey Johnson Bridal Collection)

  • I have no ideas for borrowed and blue, but new is my dress and old will probably be my shoes because I have ridiculously large feet so finding a pair of shoes to wear for one day seems more trouble than I'd care to go to. I might DIY my shoe soles blue or something.

  • I wore a blue sapphire ring of my moms (that was her grandmothers, then her moms, now hers, and will become my sisters -- oldest of each family) that was old, blue, and borrowed. But my hair clip also had a blue tone to the jewels and I wore blue panties. I wore my SILs diamond earrings from her wedding day, so those were borrowed. And my dress and shoes were new.
  • Old-The headpiece my grandmother wore at her wedding in 1958.

    New-My dress and accessories

Borrowed-I can't think of anything yet!

Blue-My other grandmother is embroidering the wedding date into the slip of my gown in blue thread. :)

  • Old - pearls that my grandmother wore on her wedding day, 65 years ago (and still happily married!); I had them sewn in to the back side of the sash on my gown, as the strand has long broken. Also, my great great grandmother had beautiful handkerchiefs that my grandmother has lent me to put in my purse

New - a necklace I purchased just for the occasion

Borrowed - a purse my cousin used on her wedding day, 7 years ago

Blue - my sash, my shoes, my necklace... blue and white are our colors!

I really took from the strong women in my life and what they have done to help me out with old and borrowed.
