Getting Ready Photos

So, when does the photographer arrive if you want "getting ready" photos?  I originally thought I'd just have the photographer meet us at the ceremony site, but we have up to 8 hours with him.

Is he there before you put your dress on?  Is he capturing you doing your make-up?  I suppose, I probably don't even need this if I don't know, but what are you having your photographer capture prior to your ceremony (and FI will be elsewhere)?  What "must-have" shots are you getting at this time?

    We have eight hours as well. For that reason I am not having my photog come to the salon while we get hair/makeup done, my sister has a really nice camera and enjoys taking pictures so I've asked her to photograph that time.

    I am asking my photographer to meet at my venue, where I will be getting dressed, to take photos of our rings, my shoes, my dress before I put it on, and me getting dressed.

    FI's dad also has a really nice camera so I'm going to ask him to take pics of FI getting ready.

    ETA: We are doing a first look so the photographer and I will go together to meet FI at the first look location. We will get all of the photos of the two of us taken care of and then go to meet the bridal party for photos. Then we'll travel back to the venue for the ceremony .

    We don't want to see each other before the ceremony, so that puts a bit of a time contraint on our photos.  We are basically doing "mock" getting ready photos.  We will all be dressed, but the photographer will take a few of us touching up hair and make-up.

    Great thread as I also get my photographer for 8 hours and wasn't sure all what I want pics of when he says "pics of me getting ready."  I think the idea of the dress before I put it on would be nice.

    I'm getting ready at home. I'm lucky enough to have a large home. FI doesn't want to see me so I'm taking over the down stairs. He's doing the upstairs. We're doing us getting ready, my dress, shoes and what not.

    Our photog is meeting the guys @ 2 at our house, and then me and the girls at my parents at 245-3.  The ceremony starts at 4, and the reception ends at 1030.  So, 8.5 hours.
    I opt to already be dressed with the photog gets there, as I have sewn in cups and no Spanx, Shapewear etc.

    Our photographer is meeting us at the church and doing "mock" getting ready pics (makeup touchups, and pretend hair touchups as noone will touch my hair once its done lol).  I will have a pic taken of my dress before I'm in it (potentialliy with the flower girl looking up at it- I saw that recently and thought it was cuuuute), and will have a photo taken of Mom zipping the dress up.  I'm opting out of some of the getting ready photos as I also will not be wearing spanx, and have cups sewn in, so I'd rather not get any X-rated pics lol!
