Obnoxious or Cute? You be the judge

DD decided she wanted to be Minnie Mouse for Halloween.  So I get the costume all together.  We already have the dress, then I went to the Disney store and got her some sparkly Minnie ears and a trick-or-treat bag.  I bought felt to make gloves and a tail.
Being the precious almost-5-year-old that she is, she has changed her mind.  Now she wants to be Supergirl.  We already have the costume (I bought it at Target after Halloween last year for 90% off).
Part of me wants to say "you decided on Minnie Mouse, you're going to be Minnie Mouse" and be firm with that.  Another part of me says "just let the child be whatever she wants".
Would it be obnoxious, or cute, if I let her "be" both?  I mean, she would be Minnie Mouse dressed up like Supergirl.  Thoughts?

(I know - this is totally nutso that I'm even asking for advice on this - but, hey, it's slow around here.)

  • i think it would be completely understandable if she was both.

  • I think I'd probably giggle with parents at their kid changing their mind if I saw someone as both.  I wouldn't think they were crazy.
  • Let her be both :)

My mom used to make us crazy elaborate costumes and one year, my little brother wanted to be the green Power Ranger.  In the course of making it, the green ranger became evil or something and turned into the white ranger.  Obviously, my brother threw a fit that he couldn't be the green ranger anymore because he was evil.  My mom made him be the damn green ranger.

  • I'd let her be both.  You have both costumes anyway.

If I didn't have the supergirl costume and it would cost me more than $10 and an hour of my time to put together, I'd get her excited about Minnie Mouse again.  But I'm a mean mom sometimes.

  • ^I see nothing wrong with this.
  • She'd be like the female version of Mighty Mouse.  :)  She's not even 5 yet so I would let her dress up as whatever she wanted.  If possible, you could return the Minnie Mouse stuff if she has her mind set on something else now.

  • Let her be both!

Sort of related I can't wait to hear if @DG1 has costume drama this year.  Then again, she doesn't come around much anymore.

  •  She was in a post below a little while ago.

  • Minnie could also just be a dress up outfit if she doesn't wear it for Halloween.

Honestly, if she had her way, she'd be Supergirl Pirate Princess Minnie.  With an Iron Man glove and a Thor hammer.
if you have the costume stuff already, do this^^^

if not, let her be both.
  • Within reasonable expense let her be both.  However, note that Halloween is still 21 days away and you might be going through 21 other decisions with her on her costume before then. I wouldn't be buying a new costume every day or even every week if I were you.

Thanks zsa.  I'll also be sure not to buy a puppy from a puppy mill.  ;)
  • I should preface all of my child related post responses with a disclaimer that I lack the magical wisdom that only comes from a fruitful uterus.

Good luck with your new puppy.
