Destination wedding - Welcome Reception Ideas

I am having a destination wedding in Nola for about 50 guests and am looking for suggestions on where to host a welcome reception/cocktail hour following the rehersal dinner. Want to keep it under $500. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Where's your rehearsal dinner? Do you want the welcome reception to be dressy or more casual? I think any recommendations will depend on the answers to these questions.

Some places you may want to consider, both dressy and casual options:
    Rock-n-Bowl
    Cure
    The Columns
    Bouligny Tavern
    Oak
The Bulldog (the Midcity location has a private patio area)
  • Cheingtp, please let me know what you find.  I have been looking for reception venues and most of them charge thousands just to reserve the space.

  • I am also not from NOLA. We are doing the welcome part at the end of our rehearsal dinner, same location. We are just having the food service stop for the last hour but keeping the open bar.

Our's is at the small cottage at the Bourbon Orleans hotel. It fits up to 60 for seated dinner and has an adorable private courtyard. I think they just require that you spend a minimum of $3k. I don't believe they charge extra for the space. Talk to Alyssa, she's been great!! We are actually having our wedding here as well, in the main ballroom. So they gave us a pretty big discount for booking both.
  • Thanks!  Talked to our hotel and they are going to let us reserve part of the hotel lobby bar with a reasonable minimum for our 50 guests.
