First Landing State Park/Reception Sites in VA Beach

Is anyone having their wedding here or been to any that were held at the park? I've seen some great reviews and I am thinking to visit there when I do my venue visits in a few weeks. If so how was it? Also if we do decide to have our ceremony there we are looking for a reception site. Any suggestions? Preferably oceanfront..thanks

I have not been to a beach wedding, but part of the First Landing area (the part with the old lighthouse) is actually located inside a military base. So definitely visit the park so you can find a good ceremony area. You probably don't want your guests to go through the hassle required to go through the base. So steer clear of the lighthouse and that beach area.

As far as nearby hotels, I only contacted a couple hotels that are all the way down at the other end of the boardwalk, which would be a really long drive. So I suggest google mapping the oceanfront and contacting each of the hotels there.

hi there...i live in va beach & wanted to offer some input.
if you go to the state parks portion of the state website, you should be able to
get tons of info there. i know there are ceremonies held on the beach...re receptions, youre talking (from what i've seen/heard) basic picnic style. also if you have your ceremony on the  beach, the beach is either on the chesapeake bay (which is adjacent to their campground) or on broad bay (boat launch, beach, dock, rocks). problems come into play: parking, parking, parking. if its during peak season, that can be tight.
another option...va beach resort hotel & conference center. i've photographed many beach weddings there...right outside the hotel on the chesapeake bay, then everyone goes inside the hotel for the reception. also a good option in case of inclement weather, they have a deck (overhang, etc).
so...hope all this info helps. good luck to ya'll! and lemme know if you have any further questions.
