Should we change our colors?

Last week we attended my future BIL's wedding.  After months of the bride and I unknowingly liking the same things, I came to the conclusion that we would probably have similar weddings.  However, I didn't expect the colors to be almost exact.  She told me it was lime green, gray and a little pink.  Our colors are pink and silver.  My sister (MOH) won't wear a pink dress so we were okay with her wearing a gray dress with pink flowers.  At the BIL's wedding, the bridal party wore gray dresses with pink flowers. The only lime green was in the ties of the groomsmen (black tuxes) and their boutonnieres.

Should we change our colors? My engagement ring has pink sapphires with the diamond so the colors fit.  I did fall in love with a teal overlay that I've asked to see in silver.  Maybe adding in teal with the pink?  We have not purchased anything that would stop me from changing the colors now.

I found this last night:  http://www.theperfectpalette.com/2013/06/color-story-pink-loves-teal.html  I need to go back and see that teal overlay again, though, to see if it matches this version of teal.

March wedding, outdoor pergola in Florida.

Thank you for your advise!

  • Don't change your colors unless you find something you like better and you want to outside of this issue. You picked them because that's what you loved - stick with it.

  • If you like your color scheme, stick to it. No one's going to be like, "O.M.G., Cokezerofreak carbon copied BIL's wedding scheme!" They're going to be like, "OMG, how amazing was Cokezerofreak's dress/DJ/insert awesome wedding thing here."

  • You guys are great, thank you!
  • When I started looking up ideas for the colors I like I was mind boggled at how different every wedding looked, even with the same color scheme.  You're just fine.  No need to change anything.

    Exactly.
  • I really think you'll be fine! I think your weddings are far enough apart that no one will notice.
  • We had the same colors as husband's cousin. Our weddings could not have looked more opposite. Trust me, you'll be fine.
  • Your colors will look beautiful and reflective of you. Colors can be used tons of different ways and I'm sure they will be beautiful and unique by showcasing you and your fiance's tastes! Also I didn't know about perfectpalette and that site is great! Thanks!
  • Thank you everyone!
