Las Vegas Welcome Pack/Survival Pack For Grandparents!

Hi,
I live in the UK and I am getting married in vegas next year. We are leaving welcome packs in the guests room for their arrival and I have a little 'poem' to put with it. For example for the younger people eg bridemaids and best man, ushers etc we have came up with this so far;

Mini deodorant - in case theres no time to shower!

Aspirin - for the headaches that are sure to come!

Plasters - you'll be on your feet all day and night so you're sure to need them!

Map - so you can find your way back to the hotel in the state that you're sure to get in!

Dollar Bills - emergency tip fund!

Energy Shot - After all Vegas is the city that never sleeps!

Tissues - to wipe away your tears of joy or despair after gambling the night away!

Condom - you may not have been lucky on the slot machines, but will you be lucky in love?

Sachet of Lube - What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas...

Obviously not all of these are appropriate for the Grandparents! My Grandma doesn't drink or gamble and I'm not giving my Grandad condoms and lube! So was wondering if you have any suggestions? I have this so far but am desperate for suggestions on a Vegas Kit suitable for the Grandparents:

Mini deodorant - in case you need a quick freshen up!

Plasters - you'll be on your feet all day and night so you're sure to need them!

Map - so you can find your way back to the hotel!

Dollar Bills - emergency tip fund!

Tissues - for the tears you are sure to cry on our wedding day!

Rich Tea Biscuits - So you can relax at the hotel if you don't want to stay out partying!

Basically I am looking for maybe 3 or 4 thoughtful bits and bobs and a little sentence for why they've been included. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated!

Thanks,

Sophie

Re: Las Vegas Welcome Pack/Survival Pack For Grandparents!

  • Well it's a good job that they aren't for you then isn't it. I have invited people with a sense of humour you see.. something some people seem to be lacking...
  • I would feel a little bit uncomfortable with the condom and lube also.  I have seen people do "Welcome Bags" with a package of instant coffee and a small bottle of wine or hard liquor.
  • The bags are for my 21 year old friends, bridesmaids and ushers who I know very well and I assure you would take the condoms and lube as a joke and have a giggle after a long plane journey to come and meet us out in America. I am tailoring the bag to the relevant people and am not suggesting giving my parents condoms or my auntie lube...

Thanks for your input but I am really happy with the effort and thought I've put in to peoples bags and am confident they will love them. I simply posted this to see if anyone had any ideas to throw around for things suitable for the grandparents, not for people to judge my decisions on the gift bags I have already put together.
  • @Choobs- my friends are the same way, so I get where you are coming from and since you know them well and they will find it funny, then good for you to customize your bags :D

In regards to your grandparents, maybe you could give them some tea bags or instant coffee bags with a note for them to soothe their throats or save their party voices as well as maybe providing some lotion or water because I know traveling really takes the moisture out of my skin, so I can only imagine how it would be for someone who is older. Maybe you could also give them a deck of cards so they can play a game in their room to kill the time or something since they don't gamble, but it is Vegas sort of related..

I know terrible suggestions, but I tried :)

  • I think the ideas above are great! I also think that we, in the UK have very liberal attitudes to things like that compared to our friends across the pond.
  • If you have time to buy a keepsake that might be an option, a Vegas key ring or bottle opener.
  • I have to represent for the US- some of us are just as liberal and love the idea ;)
  • @seniorprincesslnhs, those ideas are actually great! Definitely going for the teabags and a pack of cards, ideal for when they go back to the hotel room earlier. LOVE that idea thank you! If I can find a travel sized cream I may pop that in as well. I really appreciate your suggestions! And like I say as far as the ideas I have for the younger people we are a young group of friends who love a laugh and I know it will tickle them. Glad a few people agree :)

  • @spoon1984 I'm glad you see the funny side of this too! It's just a little laugh and a bit of a joke and I know they'll laugh with me! Getting a proper keepsake for my Grandparents is a good idea as it is something they will appreciate and use. I have enough time to sort it so I am going to have a little browse online tonight :) Thanks for your help!
  • I would find the condom and lube funny :-) great ideas Choobs. Welcome.

  • Maybe some chips to spend at the casino? Grandmas love slots.

And water is always a good bet--very necessary, expensive on the Strip, and fills up the bag quickly.

FWIW, I would find the condom funny and the lube highly appreciated ... :)

Perhaps a couple prepaid bus tickets? I know my grandmas have bad knees and would appreciate the 24 hr one...

Btw the condom and lube my sister would be so proud of you for thinking ahead. These are yearly stocking stuffers from her. 20 condoms and lubes. Lol my friends would be offended if we didnt at least get them flavored lube.

  • We did survival kits for our guests as well, I love the idea of having one type tailored the grandparents and older crowd. I have to admit, I didn't read the entire list of previous comments so I apologize if this has already been said or suggested. How about earplugs lol, pepto bismol tablets, energy shot (that might be too much), tea/coffee, saltine crackers.

    Have a great day!
