Save the date help

So FI & I found a website we liked for our std's.  We have a great picture from our engagement shoot, the website allows us to format the design a bit by moving where the date, name and other important information go and also allows us to change the font and color.  We have the option to select the color for the wording of the block of text for "Save the date" however it looks strange because it doesn't match the color or font we chose for the rest of the text on the std and doesn't allow us to change that on the std format.  it does give us the option of adding something new of our own to that block though like a gif or jpeg.  How would we go about creating our own jpeg with a better font and color than offered on the website.  I really hope I'm making sense here.  Suggestions welcome I'm a completely design challenged,
thanks

Re: Save the date help

  • You could download a font that you like that matches the one on the STD's. Some good websites are betterfonts.com and 1001fonts.com.

The easiest thing would be to open an application like paint, and create a picture there with the font you found. Simply click on the 'A' at the top of paint, which creates a text box and choose the font you downloaded. Then change the font color to something you like, write whatever you like, and then save it as a JPEG.

    Hope this helps! :)

  • Most pre-designed invites will limit your customization options. It sounds like there's a space on your invite where somebody used reverse type or a contrasting font--these tend to be deliberate choices by graphic designers to make the text stand out.

If you dislike the look, editing programs like Paint or Photoshop will let you fix it pretty easily. If you need extra help and dont know anyone with the right software, ask around locally--a lot of freelance designers will work by the hour or by the project, and this shouldn't cost you much at all.
  • Try calling the company.  I ordered my Save the Dates from Hello Lucky.  I loved the process and I love the product.  They have set color themes.  You pick three colors on my particular STD/invite suite.  One is border, one is font, one is accent.  I wanted one of the accent items, a flourish separating info near the bottom, to be in the font color instead of the accent color since the accent color is very light.  I called and asked, in no time, someone at Hello Lucky went in and switched it on the template.  A really easy fix!  I'm sure most companies are used to dealing with brides who have a specific way they want things, and are used to fixing issues like yours and mine.
  • FI & I have been fooling around with paint and photoshop to get things to look right.  So far so good.  Thanks for the great suggestions!!!
