Calling all Bonnet Island Estate Brides/Guests!

Hi everyone!! So I recently viewed Bonnet Island in LBI and fell in love with it, even more than I already was! Though I do have some reservations (mainly on time of year) and would like some feedback from anyone who's recently been a bride or a guest there. Has anyone been there during the summer (more specifically August)? As a major beach bum, I personally don't mind dealing with the August heat down the shore, but I don't want my guests to feel disgusting. I keep telling myself that since it's on the bay there could be a breeze and it may not be so terrible...though that may just be me trying to talk myself into it. The other option we have is late October.

Any insight on this venue (locale/food/decor/logistics) would be so greatly appreciated!! We're also considering getting married in a church on the island instead of the venue so we can have a Catholic ceremony - thoughts on that is welcome too.

Thanks so much in advance :)

I attended a wedding there a few years ago and absolutely loved it.  In fact, my H and I would've had our wedding there but it was out of our budget and we couldn't hit the minimum.  The wedding was in late April and the ceremony was in the chapel.  This was gorgeous.  The cocktail hour was outside and honestly, it was so cold that everyone was inside.  That might be something to consider in late October (unless there is an inside option).  However, I was there yesterday (literally) and the weather was gorgeous.

The other challenge was getting a hotel for only one night.  We stayed at the Holiday Inn right on 72 (which was lovely, although insanely expensive for off-season).  I love the idea of getting married in a church on LBI just expect guests to be late or to skip the ceremony altogether because of traffic (if you choose August).

The food was amazing, the service was outstanding and my friend loved every single minute of her wedding.  I honestly don't think you can go wrong.  Good luck!!

  • Hi Giaspo - thanks for your input!! Glad to know you had a great time. I was there this weekend as well! And you're right it was so gorgeous on Sunday and Saturday day and if we had that we'd be so happy (tho Sat night poured but oh well!) you just really just never know with the weather, which is why I hate that I'm stressing over it so much. Originally we really wanted October, but then once we were there I felt I wanted to enjoy it in a little warmer temperature. But the hotel issue really does pose a problem during peak season, and I don't want guests to be inconvenienced. And the traffic! Though we'd try to warn everyone about the problem - thankfully most of our guests are frequent LBI-goers and understand.

Thanks again for thoughts! I think you're right, hard to go wrong there (at least I hope lol). Will keep you posted. :)
