Making black bridesmaids dresses rustic/bohemian

Hello,

I've chosen black bridesmaids dresses for my girls (they are choosing their own), and burgundy wedges (all the same). I'd like to add another pop of color- perhaps cream or a fall color (fall wedding). I'm trying to figure out how to make the girls more bohemian/rustic looking in black though...especially since black isn't usually associated with that.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

  • Shawls or wraps?

Or you could just bring it in with the flowers.

  • I'd play with flowers that pop against black. I've seen a few weddings with black BM dresses and the flowers stand out quite a bit.
  • I like the ideas suggested. Doing casual wraps will help make the dresses so formal and you can do those in a color and have the flowers can bring in the color of the shoes & wrap all together.
  • Do wildflowers for their bouquets and use twine to wrap the stems, buy some jewelry for them, buy them scarves/wraps, offer to provide flowers they can wear in their hair if they want to.

  • Loose curled hair styles, knit shawl/wrap, flowers in their hair (perhaps a flower headband), bohemian looking bouquet, and/or natural looking makeup that accents the eyes.

This. And jewelry and accessories like sashses are a great way to emphasize this look.

  • Even though, PLEASE don't dictate their hair and makeup so they look like they fit your theme. They aren't props.

  • Thanks, thanks, thanks! Yeah, I was going to let them do their hair and makeup to whatever suits them. BUT I love the idea of some jewelry or wraps. Also, yes I plan to do something fun with flowers. Now I just have to find the perfect jewelry! Thank you!
  • Crochet shrugs!
