Wedding Woes

'Sup peeps

The beef stew I made last night was so good that I'm having it for breakfast. I'm sad we demolished the crusty bread I bought to go with it.

We kicked our heat on so it wouldn't dip below 68 in the house last night. We would have held out longer, but the little people that live here need to stay warm.

I need to find some slippers that I can wear all day or a pair of moccasins to wear around the house since I hate socks.  I also need some more long sleeve shirts and sweaters.  This weather has me wanting to shop for super cozy stuff.

Re: 'Sup peeps

  • Just get yourself a snuggy!

I'm just waiting for 4pm to roll around so I can go home. I'm done with today. And I want to get back to programming DD's speech app.

I was supposed to meet a special needs blogger that i read daily. She had to cancel because of something pressing with her daughter. I can't fault her that but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. She wants to reschedule. They're super close to where I live. It was just a matter of timing.

I am going to be taking a GRE prep class. I haven't signed up yet, but I'm taking the plunge and looking into grad school. This excited and terrifies me.
  • I think our dryer pooped out on us.  It's running, but nothing is drying and there's no heat.  If I could get it fixed for $50, I'd do it, but I doubt it will be that cheap and anything more really isn't worth it.

I'm secretly happy, though.  I've been wanting a new dryer for a couple years.  The door won't stay latched despite replacing the broken piece so we have to jam a piece of wood between the door and a basket shoved against the wall.  It's a PITA.

  • A snuggy sounds divine right now, Dixie...I'm freezing at work.  They haven't turned the heat on and the windows are a BIT drafty.

Also, I laugh at your 68 Conn, because when I went to bed it was 61 in our house, I wonder how long we can make it without turning the heat on?

Taw---didn't you just get a new washer?  Craazy they didn't crap out at once...though better for the ole' pocketbook.

I'm sitting at work, actually working----it's an early Christmas MIRACLE.
  • Our washer crapped out in Nov 2011.  When we bought the house, the set wasn't a pair, so we don't really know how old they are - guessing 15ish years.

This seems to be a good time to have to shop for one since the Columbus day sales are still running.

i have several robes and boring ugly house sandals that look like Dr. Scholl's to wear around the house.

I am making stew today! it is perfect stew weather. H makes fun of me for eating things like that for breakfast, but it's filling and good. and really, if i am the only person here who eats stew, i need to eat it several times a day for a few days so it doesn't go to waste.

i recently bought really tacky ankle boots (they have rhinestones) that were ridiculously overpriced and have no idea when i will wear them again. they are too young for me to wear around other people, so next time we have a date night i will make sure i wear them.

  • I think a person can do far worse than stew for breakfast.  It's kind of like saying that candy is bad, but you'll eat a donut.

    LEAVE MY FOOD ALONE, damnit!

    *eyes cereal*
  • I think stew sounds awesomely good for breakfast.
I may make more pumpkin butter this weekend because...yum.  And easy/cheap.  And tasty.  And I'm the only one who eats it.

Buffy has some incredibly overpriced minnetonka skippers (from my ILs) that I would steal if they'd fit

The migraines have been w/ me this week so I cancelled play group in order to sleep in.

Did I mention that the Mr. has an upper resp. infection and sounds/feels like death?  that's made his med. change extra fun--because every person dealing w/ depression and a med change that's leading to extreme exhaustion and a desire to never get up is only helped by being ordered to stay in bed for a few days, right?

I have decided to do something crafty and geeky w/ a pair of boots that are getting cracky (so they're still comfy, still in good repair, but don't look good anymore).  I haven't decided what that will be yet, but I'm sure I have an upcoming craftastrophe.

  • We're having meatloaf and mashed potatoes and glazed carrots for dinner.  I can't wait.

I haven't run heat or a/c in 2 weeks and I kinda don't want to turn it on until we have a new system.

My new windshield is condensing on the inside.  They said it was normal for the first few days, but it didn't do that yesterday so I'm suspect.

  • I was planning on burgers tonight but now Son is having a friend spend the night (today and tomorrow off from school for conferences), so I'm not sure I have enough.

We have had our a/c off for 2-3 weeks as well and it's been wonderful.  I feel like we went from the heat to the a/c in the spring.  Of course, it's a little too chily to have the house open, but I really can't complain about this weather.

  • I was going to make Meatloaf for dinner but I think I'd rather eat out and by that I mean BURRITOS.
  • I made a really fantastic salmon recipe last night. Tasty and so easy.

It was a mustard and brown surgar glazed salmon. I'm having left overs tonight for my dinner.
  • I did some terrible salmon burgers this week, but I kind of knew they'd suck.

I did an awesome pan fried chicken with wilted sauted mushrooms and onions over wilted spinach to make up for it though.

  • Salmon burgers are hard, 6....gotta jazz 'em up way more than you'd think....almost like giant salmon cakes.

I did chicken parm last night, switched out kale+mushrooms+onion curry sitch, for my pasta.  I'm having a love affair with kale lately.  Vitamin A overload.

I'm making pulled pork tonight.  MIL is coming to dinner.

FIL is in FL with SIL and nieces.  He's helping keep track of the kids while SIL gets the house ready for the packers.  BIL is going to Korea for a year starting next month.  They're moving bases after he gets back.

*sidenote...BIL threw his hat in the ring for deployment so they could get a base of preference (closer to here) and they're probably not going to get it.  Since the options for bases they could get into now suck (border towns in TX and NM or middle of nowhere ID), they're exploring Europe as an option.
  • Dinner tonight is roast beef sandwiches. Maybe. Depends on if I feel like it. I'm currently preoccupied with something from yesterday and I don't know how to proceed so we'll see if I can get mind off of it long enough to make dinner.
  • Dang it, I want cold weather! It was 85 when I went to lunch with a friend! I guess the office should be a solace to me- it's constantly 50 in here, and I have a space heater going at my feet, blanky around my shoulders.
