venue help

so my fiance and i are getting married in pt pleasant beach. weve started looking at venues and im already in love with one but its on the higher end price wise. there was another one that we thought was going to be the place it looked beautiful online and the pricing was about 125 a person but we walked in and it looked terrible and wanted to leave immediatly/  it seems that most places ive called (which is about 15 anywhere from long branch to red bank to point)  are all priced between 150-180 per person curious if this is outlandish or normal. I kinda had a feeling when we decided to have it at the beach it would be at least 150 a person. my gut tells me go with the place i love with that is 170 but im also trying to stay smart about it.

Re: venue help

  • Try haggling! You should be able to save some money by swapping menu items. I've had moderate success telling venue owners "I really love everything about it, but it's a bit over my budget. I was looking to spend $XX." They may be willing to work with you. Worst thing that happens is they say no.
  • Try Doolans & I think the Spring Lake Inn on Route 71.
  • I am getting married in Pt. Pleasant and found the same price range when I was looking in those areas too. Did you already have a date in mind? If you're willing to change ask the 170pp venue what their off-season prices are. Also find out about a Friday or Sunday night. I asked about a Sunday in November and the price was much more manageable than the $168 price I was originally quoted.
