Worried about dad not coming

My husband & I are renewing our vows next year & I asked my dad to walk me down the aisle again. We didn't have any dancing at our original wedding, but we will have dancing at the renewal. I have the perfect song picked out for the father/daughter dance. My dad isn't very reliable when making plans, so I'm really worried about him not making it. He's known about this renewal for 2 years, & says he'll be here. But he couldn't make it for our daughters wedding. That's why I'm worried. I'm trying to keep positive thoughts, but the closer the date gets, the more I worry.

    You are renewing your vows, not recreating your wedding.  It would be weird to have your father walk you down the aisle again.  He is not "giving you away" again......you are already married.  Same goes for the father/daughter dance.  Just because you didn't have dancing on the actual wedding doesn't mean this is a chance to recreate that part.  Just let it go.  Renew your vows and have a kick ass party.

    All of this. And I'll add that you've known your father to be unreliable for several years (30? 40?  Just guessing as you have a daughter old enough to be married).  You don't have to like it, but it's time to accept this about him and realize he does as he pleases.

    Focus on your husband and childen and the rest of the people in your life who care enough to always be there for you.
