November 2013 Weddings

Finally Decided on Our Songs!

We finally finished choosing most of our songs today. The only major one to pick is the father/daughter dance. For the ceremony we'll just be using a cd and player, and we'll be having a dj at the reception.

Entrance: Pachelbel's Canon in D

Recessional: Wedding March by the London Symphony Orchestra

Reception entrance: Home by Phillip Phillips

First Dance: At Last by Etta James

Cake Cutting: Ice Cream by Sarah McLachlan

Bouquet Toss: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper

Garter Toss: Put Another Log on the Fire by Tompall Glasser This one is very tongue-in-cheek, my FFIL keeps suggesting this as our first dance song, and we couldn't find a song we liked for the garter toss, so I jokingly suggested it to my FI as the garter toss, and he laughed at first, but as we thought about it, decided it could make for a very funny moment.

Here is my short list of Father/Daughter dance songs, I'm going to share it with my dad, and hopefully together we can choose one.

  1. My Little Girl by Tim McGraw
  2. Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle
  3. Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion
  4. You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker
  5. The Way You Look Tonight by Steve Tyrell (from father of the bride)

Re: Finally Decided on Our Songs!

  • Congrats!  Your song choices are beautiful!  I know I felt a big sigh of relief when we got those done too.  For my F/D dance, I'm using My Little Girl by Tim McGraw, so I'm partial to that one!  :)
  • We are doing My Little Girl as well, it's a very popular Father/Daughter song, the other choices sound beautiful as well.
  • We spent hours working on hours, who knew it would be so stressful!
Processional will be Vitamin String Quartets - More than Words
    My processional - Pachibel's Canon
Recessional - Our Love is Here To Stay
Entrance - Tony Lucca - Never Gonna Let You Go
First Dance - Tony Lucca - Happily Ever After
    Father/Daughter - Beatles - In My Life
Cake Cutting - Mumford and Sons - I Will Wait
Bouquet Toss - Michael Buble - Just Haven't Met You Yet
Forgot what we did for garter

  • @ginter27 I love your bouquet toss song pic ;)

     Wedding Countdown Ticker:)

  • The funny thing is that my FI picked it out- he loves that song! lol

    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • I have way fewer songs than everyone else!

Wedding Party: No idea - FI is supposed to pick this one out and acts like it's a surprise. I think he doesn't know yet.
My processional - Josh Abbott - She's Like Texas
Recessional - Kelly Clarkson - Tie It Up (Nice and upbeat!)
First Dance - Billy Currington - Let Me Down Easy
Father/Daughter - Tim McGraw - My Little Girl

And during the reception all of the women there who know it (which will be several!) will dance to Copperhead Road.
  • I saw this song on a list of top played songs for the bouquet toss. Cyndi Lauper sings the song the goonies r good enough, which is from our all time favourite movie (FI even quoted some lines from it when he proposed) and since that one would be kind of hard to fit in I thought this one is perfect to have another element that is so special to us.
