Wedding Woes

Seriously...What do people do with their lives?

Because worrying about every.last.thing seems to fill a lot of people's lives

Dear Prudence,
I have been blessed with the fact that my 16-year-old son and my husband, his stepfather, have a wonderful relationship. This year we are having a Halloween party at our house and they have decided to dress up as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad. My husband has an orange painting suit, complete with mask, which my son would wear. I am a huge fan of the show, but the mother in me thinks this is not a good idea. They would not be going out in public, but pictures will inevitably end up on social media. My son is a good kid, into sports, and does not do drugs. I have told my husband that having my son dress up as a meth dealer would probably be considered bad parenting, but he says it is all in good fun and that people dress up as worse things for Halloween. What do you think?

  • I say do it!!! I have seen little kids dressed up as Walt and Jesse.  I think it's a great costume!!  Think of it this way, people dress up as Michael from the Halloween movies but they are not murders (just and example)

  • early christmas present for AuntFlo.
  • I would go with your gut. The high school I went to would have retaliated against me for this. I had friends who got suspended for things not remotely school related and off school grounds. Be careful read the student hand book.( My high school made students take one home and get a parent to sign it.) ( I think they mail it now.)

I second this. You could possible have someone, if the pictures do get onto social media, report to Social Services. Even though it's a picture, a costume, it could lead to something bad. And like liz stated above, your son could even get in trouble academically because the school sees it as him breaking school policies.

(I know it happened just this past week, a girl lost her captaincy from picking up her friend at a party. She was being designated driver. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2459432/Sober-student-suspended-school-driving-drunk-friend.html)

I don't watch the show, I have nothing against it, but if someone spins a believable tale, SS will appear on your doorstep based on accusation, no proof.. (from personal experience from my childhood).
