Larger Girl wondering about Dress Sizes

So I am a larger curvy girl from a small town, and I was wondering if anyone knew what the average dress sizes were in bridal salons.  I am a street size 12 (which seems pretty average, but I'm only 5'2" :)), but I know that a lot of other bigger girls have had trouble finding dresses because the selection was really limited.  I'm hoping that I will not have to special order something and will have lots of options

    I went to a weding dress place and I found the ress I wanted in a maller size (and I was soo suprised it even sort of went on me) and they were able to order it in my size. I know David's Bridal carries off the rack dresses in larger sizes.

    Lots of popular brands carry dresses up to sizes 20+, so you should be fine! Mori Lee has some really pretty dresses for bigger girls. Just don't feel sad if you end up needing like a size 16, that's just the way wedding dresses are sized!

    I had the same fear and every shop I went to had plenty of dresses to try on.  And lots were too big. I tried on everything from a 14 to a 22.

    I think samples are usually a size 10 (street size 8)   I'm also a street size 12, and I found dresses that fit me in every single store that I went to (David's Bridal having the biggest selection.) And even when I had to try on a size 10, the only place it didn't fit me was in my chest, so it was still very easy to see what the dress would look like.

    BTW, don't worry about the usual "Sample Size". I went to 5 bridal shops (and none were David's Bridal) and they had mre than enough in my size or larger. As a matter of fact MY DRESS was a size 26, lol, I had more fabric behind me than in front of me. I needed a size 18 and then it has to be altered down 2 inches because I lost weight between purchase & first fitting. :) Don't worry. Go to Alfred Angelo's website and use their locator, it will not only find AA shops but your local shops too.
