So, some of you know already know this, but I was laid off today. I more or less saw it coming as my boss is as "fishy as a trout left in the sun", (thanks for that one MotoLyn). In the end he said the firm just couldn't 'afford' me any more. I'm getting a modest severance package, he won't contest my filing for unemployment and he's paying for a training program I had wanted to take. Oh, and I took a pretty decent civil case with me.
At this point I'm sad, b/c hey, no one likes getting rejected. But now I can focus on my love of criminal defense, after the training I will be a certified Guardian ad Litem and I have an awesome professional network. So I'm going to take a few days and figure it all out, talk to some other lawyers I know and respect, but I think I'm going to be starting my own law firm!
But right now I'm gonna go drink and snuggle with FI, who is just being even more wonderful about this than I could have imagined!!
