I feel like a sneaky kid at Christmas!

So, my bridal shower is this Sunday. Someone called me to ask a question about the registry, so I checked on it and noticed this magic button that tells you what has already been purchased...My curiosity got the better of me, so I clicked it and snooped on what I will be getting. I felt so bad about it, but it is kinda fun, too! I checked again today (I didn't see what people bought, just saw that the number of purchased gifts went up) and want so badly to know! I feel like I am 10 again trying to find the Christmas presents under my parents' bed! Did anybody else snoop on their registry, or am I just nuts?

I've never understood why people think it's snooping.

I frequently monitored my registry to make sure plenty of selection in various price ranges was always available.

It also helped me to be on the alert to look for packages on my doorstep (we don't often use our front door).
  • I snooped mine all time.  And I have a bad habit of snooping other peoples too.  Just people I know.  I'm curious to see what they registered for and what they're already getting

  • @itzMS I feel like it's snooping because in my mind, presents are supposed to be a surprise. I just can't help myself. Lol.

@WinstonsGirl Nice! Haha. I snooped on my friend's baby registry all the time, I just recently figured out how to do it on my own registry.

I'm excited! It looks like I will be getting the Dutch Oven my eye has been on for a few years!

  • @alisonmarie658 I have a feeling I will have a ton of things get purchased from it on Black Friday, my wedding is the day after and there will be some huge sales on a few items.
  • I don't have to worry about the packages arriving thing as much. I am still at my parent's house until after the wedding. They live on a private road, so we don;t have to collect them from an Apt. Manager or anything. I can't wait until packages arrive! :)
  • Oh goodness, I did not know this was a feature. My Fi and I will be registering this weekend!

You'll still want to know what's coming and when. It's the responsible thing to do.

Criminals have been known to follow UPS trucks.

Also, in case of rain. Nothing's worse than a rain soaked box.
  • Good point, itzMS. Thank you. :)

@katieg520 Have fun! Where are you registering?

  • @thefuturemrshawks I know for sure we are registering at BBB. He wants to register at Lowe's too because we are having a couple's shower. Most men around here have a "Honey Do" shower where they get tools, etc that they request while the women have their bridal shower. We are just going to combine them and do a couple's shower.
I, personally, don't care where we register.

  • @katieg520 Awww, that's cute! We just usually have bridal showers here, but I love the idea of a "Honey Do" shower. We registered at BB&B as well, so they for sure have the "see purchased items" feature.
  • @thefuturemrshawks I'm not sure I should've been told that, lmao!!!! I'm gonna check it all the time!
  • Haha, sorry! LOL

  • My shower invites went out a little over a week ago and I keep checking to see if people have bought anything yet (so far nothing).  My shower isn't until the 16th and I know people usually shop last minute  but I admit I'm starting to second guess my choices.

  • @AprilH81 Yeah, I know what you mean about the second guessing thing! I was driving myself crazy second guessing things and kept wanting to change things around!
  • @thefuturemrshawks I did change the bedding last night.  We had originally registered for The Hotel Collection bedding (except for the sheets) but I changed it out for a less expensive bed in the bag ($300 regular price for the whole set versus $200 for just two shams).

But on the flip side I switched from Crate & Barrel place settings to Macy's Hotel Collection bone china.

Oh well...  I'm sure people will figure something out.  lol

  • My shower isn't until January. I might snoop some myself.
    We have Amazon and BB&B.

  • I don't think our stores here have a snooping option for registries - it's a great idea though.

We're not registering at all, so I wouldn't get to snoop anyway. :( We've bothed lived away from home, and between us we have enough stuff to furnish 2 houses fully. We're going the "don't register and when people ask tell them you're saving towards your First Home fund" route. Property is crazy expensive.

  • I totally registry stalked! But I did refrain the 2 days or so before the shower so I still had a lot of surprises + you never know who got you what, so it was still exciting.  I got so caught up in the shower that everything still felt like a surprise though!  Some things were purchased at the shower time but not given until the actual wedding itself so there were more surprises there too.

  • I'm definitely going to snoop my registries. Heck, to this day (I'm 24) I still snoop my christmas gifts. I used to rip a corner, find out what it was, then re-tape it while my siblings and parents were still sleeping! It took them until I was 16 to catch on to it. They aren't too great at hiding my gifts either so as I got older and found out santa wasn't real I would hunt for my christmas gifts and do the rip trick! LOL I'm so bad. Needless to say, I will definitely be snooping my registries.. if not for knowing what I'll be getting- to make sure I have enough items. My friend just got married in October and she ran out of items on her list :/

  • Oh, I totally snooped my registry for my first wedding.
  • My shower is this Sunday too! Enjoy!

We didn't register so there was nothing to snoop on, but I had a registry for my first engagement and I snipped on it constantly.
  • melbelleup SANTA ISN'T REAL????

    lol, just kidding.

AprilH81 did you notice that the Macy's bone china dishes were on sale up until a few days ago? I'm worried that they won't go on sale again before my wedding! I hope your guests bought you some of yours!

Yeah, it is on sale and I almost bought some myself to save some money but I resisted.  Nothing has moved off our registry yet, I think the Friend's & Family sale is still coming up but I'm not sure when.
