Anniversary

Today is my FI's and I's fourth anniversary.  :)  We exchanged cards and gifts this morning.  Tonight we are going out for dinner and then for ice cream.
What do you do for your anniversaries?  If you are married to your SO, do you still celebrate your "dating anniversary"?

Re: Anniversary

  • imageSounds like fun!!! We plan on staying overnight in a really nice jacuzzi suite at some fancy hotel downtown and spend the evening enjoying the city :)

  • We used to just go out to dinner or order in pizza for our dating anniversary.

Now that we are married we don't celebrate our dating anniversary anymore because it just seems kind of pointless.  A more important date took its place.  And even for our wedding anniversary we don't really do much more then dinner together.

  • Happy anniversary!

FI and I actually haven't had an anniversary yet. We've been together almost 7 months.
  • DH will usually bring home flowers on anniversaries like that, and that's about it

  • We'll make a good meal with some good wine... and maybe a card.

  • It's actually our 5th dating anniversary today! Twins, @doeydo! I know we're not doing anything tonight because he has gaming, and I have no clue if he's planned anything for tomorrow (when I told him we would spend the day together). Goodness knows I haven't planned anything ...
  • We don't remember when our first date was exactly...so no dating anniversary :-)

For our wedding anniversary, we like to do things versus buy physical gifts. Usually that means a little vacation!
  • We usually go out to dinner to a restaurant we've never been to before and get ice cream after. Our anniversary is in January so we don't really do anything elaborate since we just got over the shock of Christmas.

  • I think we will celebrate our dating anniversary (Jan) until we get marrried. However we did also celebrate our 1 year til the wedding mark by going to dinner last Friday :) It was very nice

  • Congrats :)

My SO and I are renting a nice suite at a boutique hotel and going for a fancy dinner, in November, when it'll be our 5th year Dating Anniversary.

We don't usually do much for smaller anniversaries. Usually dinner at a nice restaurant or something.

  • We exchange cards and go out to dinner. We can't remember if it's October 2 or 4, so we do it on October 3. I think this year will have been the last one since we're getting married in February.

    Congrats!

BF and I have really given up on celebrating, lol. On our 5th year anniversary we ordered pizza and went to bed early - and it was a Saturday! Usually we at least exchange cards and take a day trip together around the time of our anniversary, but this year was kind of atypical.

I'm undecided about celebrating dating anniversaries after marriage. I don't want to ignore the five years of our dating life that will hopefully kick off the start of an awesome marriage, but I feel like the marriage anniversary is the one we'd make an effort to celebrate. I dunno. Luckily I don't have to stress about that right now, though. ;)
  • The one-year anniversary of our first date was in August, and we went out for dinner.

The one-year anniversary of the date we made it FB official and exclusive and serious was eight days before our wedding, so we were otherwise busy. :)

We'll probably celebrate the marriage anniversary and not the dating anniversary next year and just go from there.

My dad always buys my mom flowers on their engagement anniversary, which I think is sweet.

I'm gonna go with 'not my circus, not my monkeys.'

@HisGirlFriday13 You should tell your friend's fiance about that! Make sure he does it! ;)

  • We are celebrating our 5 year dating anniversary this weekend! Going out to a nice dinner, even though we just got married last month. I think we will still recognize the day:) Nothing wrong with having multiple things to celebrate, right!
  • Congrats!
For our first 15 months of dating my fiance was in the Navy. So we would send each other anniversary e-mails. Our 4 month we actually got to go out. I bought a new dress and we went on a fancy date. Then on our 15 month we went and saw Singing in the Rain in theaters. For our 2 year we did a nice dinner that weekend and exchanged love letters. Our 3 year will be just under a month after our wedding.
I would love to celebrate or at least acknowledge our dating and engagement anniversaries in the future. He's a romantic so we probably will.

  • Well this year for our 6 year dating anniversary we got married...(it was 2 days before the actual anniversary but that's the date we'll be celebrating from now on.)  Next year we've already lined up a nice week-long vacation that's going to be similar to what we did for the honeymoon.  Very low-key, off tourist season but enjoying being together.

For our dating anniversary, we go to the place we had our first date, but other than that, we don't really do anything else special.  (And that's not even very special because we go there a few times a year anyway.  They have amazing burgers!)  I don't know what we'll do for our anniversary.  It's coming up in just under two months.
  • Our four year dating anniversary was the day before our wedding, woo. Our favorite thing to do for anniversaries is travel. Our second dating anniversary was spent in Seattle and the third in New Orleans. We didn't go anywhere this year because of paying for the wedding, but I'm hoping our first wedding anniversary will be a cruise in Alaska.

  • We celebrated our 10th anniversary in September. We were in town for his cousin's engagement party. The celebration was a kiss in the morning. We meant to celebrate afterwards, but busy schedules kept that from happening. In short- I don't think we'll have any trouble transitioning to our new anniversary date.
