Restaurant brides.

I work in a restaurant and was wondering if any other brides in the industry had issues getting time off for showers, Batchlerett parties, honeymoon?

Re: Restaurant brides.

  • All employees in service industries have the same issue.  Best suggestion is to plan your events, as much as possible, during the low season for your industry.
  • Thanks! Glad I'm not alone.
  • If you have it available - save up your vacation days? That's what I am doing. My days reset in May, wedding is in Feb.  Just a suggestion if it's available.

This. Save your sick days and vacation days if you get any. Also if you work random days, see if you can schedule an off day on a sat or sun for bridal shower/bach party. I know when I worked at Lowe's we were able to try and request a day off without using vacation time. This might be an option.

I'm personally saving all my sick days and vacation days for our wedding and honeymoon.

  • Honeymoon is a lot for anybody. I'm not in that biz anymore, but we still have tight schedules. We decided to stick closer to home, take less time, and do a "real honeymoon" later.
  • give your boss your dates ASAP and only a true dick wouldnt give you time off for your own wedding events!

Very very good idea =) my boss does this if it's available. When we request a day off she clarifies with us "normal day, paid time off or an extra day off with no pay?"
