Got a dress! Need flower recs!

I bought the most beautiful but unconventional wedding dress this weekend and it is throwing off all my preconceived notions for flowers. I wanted to do an orchid cascading bouquet but now it seems like maybe I should let the dress be the focus.

Any recommendations?

  • Your dress is gorgeous -- very dramatic and unique. I think anything other than a more simple bouquet may steal the show or be a little overwhelming. If I may, I'd suggest a simple tightly arranged bouquet in one color and bloom. What about cream roses to offset the cream tones in the dress?
  • Wow, dramatic is the word. That is a gorgeous dress.

I would definitely suggest a simple bouquet, as @EAR123 mentioned. You could always hold a cream long-stemmed rose or a "posy", which is a small bundle of 3-4 flowers, but I'd still stick with cream.

Wait. Is that leopard print on the underskirt?!? :)
  • @wrigleyville No haha! That's just the pedestal w/ the leopard print.

Thanks for the advice! I'm on the hunt for the perfect option...
  • I LOVE your dress. Cream flowers for sure but maybe with a hint of something blue?

  • your dress is beautiful.  I will go the other way and suggest a different pop of color for bouquet ... small hand tied coral or red flowers.  I wouldn't do orchids at all (even in a muted color) because they are visually complicated (busy).

If you haven't booked your florist yet, don't be afraid to email pics of your dress asking different florists to give you their opinion on what you should carry.  I did something similar for my reception venue flowers and found the most amazing florist that way.  (Pam from the Palette).
  • I would do cream and consider adding a pop of color like blue or red.

My photographer recommended enchanted florist for flowers.  I haven't met with them yet but I met with my photographers recommendation for invitations and that lady is awesome, so I'm definitely going to look at them if we go with fresh flowers.
  • i agree, keep your flowers simple, you don't want anything to take away from the magic of that dress - you look breathtaking - i LOVE LOVE LOVE unconventional/dramatic/colourful wedding gowns so much!! good job!!
  • I'd also say simple, but contrasting color. That dress is amazing. The stuff I've seen from Enchanted Florist (bridal shows) has been fab. I've also liked the stuff from Naakiti Florals.
