I had to jump on the bandwagon and share my first official "check" -- I bought my dress over the weekend! My mom flew in to my city to come with me to three appointments to search for a dress. I wound up finding exactly what I was looking for at the second appointment, ordering it on the spot, and cancelling the third appointment of the day. I am SO relieved to have it taken care of.
I liked a dress I found at my first appointment -- a beige sheath with a white lace overlay -- but wasn't in love with it. At my second appointment, I tried on a more simple dress, a cream modified A-line, modern with clean lines, which seemed more "me," and also seemed to be a better fit for my prospective venue (nighttime ceremony at indoor chapel in the winter) than a lacy, frilly number would be. I also think the simple, clean, unfussy lines will be a better match with the attire of my fiance, who will be in military uniform. His multi-color ceremonial bars, medals, etc. (we call it "fruit salad" or "chest candy") will be "bling" enough for both of us!
It feels great to have something (anything) checked off our to do list. We are going to LV during Thanksgiving weekend to see the chapel space together at Mandalay Bay, and check on the private dining space at the hotel's Aureole for the reception. (I've seen the chapel in person, but he has not). If we're both a-go on ceremony and reception space, then I'll get my holds in and start contracts for the date we have in mind as soon as possible. That will be the next big check -- a date and venue!
I'll post impressions on the space after our scouting trip. Thanks for reading!
