What is the best way to have your dress cleaned and preserved after your wedding without spending a ton,?

Re: Dress cleaning and preservation?

  • You'll have to decide if it's really, really important to you. Total preservation (where the dress comes back to you in an airtight box) is several hundred dollars in my area. There isn't a cheap way.

Having my silk dress cleaned (stains removed), pressed, and stuffed with tissue was around $75.

Thanks. I just want to have it cleaned and possibly packaged nicely.

Did you have a dry cleaner do the cleaning or did the bridal shop you purchased it from do it?

  • Just our normal everyday dry cleaner :-)
  •  David's Bridal has sales, every once in a while, on preservation kits. (As mentioned above, where the dress comes back to you airtight). The last time I saw them on sale, I believe they were about $100. No where near the crazy price mentioned above! I would call them to see what their regular price is, & maybe inquire about their next sale. (A lot of the time it's when they have their $99 dress sale).

     Good luck!

You know now that I think about it, I had major issues with DB and had to go to their customer service manager in NY and I think she offered me free preservation in an email correspondence. I need to look for that. Although, giving them my dress scares me a little.
