Asking Wedding Party for Destination Wedding

When is an appropriate time to ask a friend to be in your wp for a destination wedding?   I know etiquette says 6-9 months but I feel like I should ask sooner so that she has time to plan and budget.

    I told my WP as soon as I knew I was having a destination wedding. I think that was a little over a year out. Unfortunately, many of them had to back out within months of the actual wedding for various reasons. 

    But you definitely want to give them enough time to plan out finances, schedules, etc.

    I asked my wedding party at 11 months. Granted most of it is made up of our siblings it was still good to let them know ASAP.

    I say why wait? If you have your plans fairly solidified (definite on a DW) what's the harm in asking now? The longer your friends and family have to plan the better chance they will be able to attend and the less stress they'll be under to pull it all together.

    I would say the sooner the better. Im not having a WP but im getting married Sept 2014 and sending out STDs tomorrow. You want to give them enough notice to get airline tickets, book lodging, and just save for the trip in general
