Online Dress Shopping

I found "the dress" at David's Bridal (9T9948). I was trying to get away with a very inexpensive backyard wedding and wasn't planning on spending $600 on a dress, but I am IN LOVE with the dress. I looked online to see if I could find it used, but no luck. I did, of course, run across several "warehouses" that offer the dress for much less. Of course buying a dress online makes me nervous and I am leery.  Can anyone recommend an online store that is reputable with good quality dresses? I have my heart set on this dress and my fiance says to just spend the money, but I just can't see doing it. Any tips or recommendation? Personal experiences? Thanks!

Re: Online Dress Shopping

  • I just looked right now, and it's $499

That is honestly amongst the least expensive you'll find for a legit lace dress (not from a knockoff site). Especially one with sleeves.

Have you actually tried it on at DB? Maybe you won't even like how tea length looks on you.

  • Oddly enough, I tried it on last night and looked at it online again when I got home. It was $549. I just looked at it again today and now it's on sale!!! It must be a sign! I realize it's inexpensive, but after I'd seen dresses online for less, I thought that was a possibility. Now that I am actually in my "shopping phase" and doing more research, I'm learning that online shopping isn't all that it's cracked up to be. It seems to be too much of a risk.
  • David's Bridal is pretty much the cheap end of reputable bridal stores and unless you find it used, you probably won't find it cheaper. I looked into the same thing at first. Most of the online shops are overseas knockoffs. If you search the forum you can find many, many horror stories from these sites. People got dresses that were cheap material, bad sewing, wrong size, dress didn't even come, etc. and you don't have much recourse if they screw up. You just out the money and stuck last minute trying to repair or find a new dress in time... While often stuck paying rush fees to get new dress ready in time. If you check website for Mori Lee, the have a list of not-so-great overseas knockoff companies to avoid. But there are a couple US based sample or used online bridal stores. Anyway, here's the long list of good online used & sample sites I've been perusing. Hopefully it can help you find what you want.
