Do I need a purse?

Getting married in June next year.  Ceremony and reception at the same location (as well as our hotel accommodations).  Outdoor ceremony (weather permitting) and indoor reception.  Should I get a purse to hold my room key, emergency supplies and necessities? I'm leaning towards yes, but not entirely sure.  The neurotic side of my might end up showing too much if I don't have my room key, chapstick, blister block, etc. handy at the reception.  If so, what should I do with the purse during the ceremony?

Re: Do I need a purse?

  • I had one. We had multiple locations to deal with, though.

In your case, just let your FI hold the room key.

A BM (or your mom) can run up to your room if you have an "emergency".
  • I would say yes just to hold "necessities" Chapstick, room key, travel tooth brush, mini-toothpaste, pad or tampon (just in case) etc.

  • I did not have a purse.  We had our ceremony and reception all at one location and we were given a "bridal suite" (it was just one of the club boxes in the stadium) to use to keep all of our personal items through out the night.

I would just have your FI hold onto the room key or you could even ask your venue if there is a small room that you could have access to to keep an emergency kit, your room key and other items you may think you might need that day.

  • I would ask a friend/BM if she could keep a few things in her purse for you (the things I wanted at the reception were: chapstick, lipstick, cell phone, those oil blotting sheets).
  • I had a small clutch with little random things and I'm glad I did. I just left it in the limo during the ceremony.
  • I am just probably going to have Jordan keep chapstick or whatever else I may need in his pocket. But, who knows. I might change my mind by then.

  • I would ask your BM or your mom to hold your stuff for you. Maybe give your FI your room key. A purse might be hard to keep track of throughout the night. Otherwise you'd have to cling to it the whole night, and it'd become a hassle when it came to picture time.
  • I had a tote bag of everything I needed (or thought I needed!).  That stayed in the bridal suite at the venue (ceremony and reception was at the same location).
  • I didn't take a single thing with me to the wedding or reception.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
