I am confused. Is there a dance floor at the reception? Will the DJ be playing dance music? What is the reason that no one will dance? There's not enough people?
I think people either love to dance or they don't. It has nothing to do with the number of people attending! Thats a strange comment he made to you...

We had 60 and we danced and had a blast.   Tell your DJ that he should consider it his mission to get people dancing.  Isn't that what DJs do??  If you have teens/ young adults there, have them request songs they like to dance to.    STrange thing to say to you a week out.  Ignore him. ~Donna

Your DJ is a moron.  (I hope he's a total stranger and I didn't just call your favourite uncle a moron!)

First of all, 100-125 is an average size wedding.  Under 75 is "small," and even that is subject to location.

People dance.  Sometimes they need encouragement to get out there, but I've been at house parties and little local bars with under 20 people - and dancing was done.

I'd make up a playlist, hand it to the DJ, and tell him to play it and let how many people actually dance just be left up to fate.

Good luck.  I think people will dance. :)

    Love this ^^^

I only had 45 people at my wedding and we had people dance! Its the DJ's job to get them to want to dance. Let guests make requests it will be fine geesh what kinda dj would be so negative our dj was amazing good luck!!!

I agree with the prior posters. If they aren't dancing, it's because he's not mixing it up enough, or you have "non-dancers" at your wedding.

If you are older (like many of us), the song list should include songs we grew up with: Motown, Bob Seger, your favorite rock group. Some oldies like 40's songs that our parents recall.

Enjoy your wedding. Don't now pay extraordinary attention to the number of dancers on the floor....... to do so would give him way too much control over your feelings.

    Good luck.

I'm with the other ladies, he's clueless. 115 may be small in his bood, but that is not a small amount of people for any party and they will dance given the right amount of booze, music and opportunity. Tell him it is his job to get people dancing if he cannot, you will find someone who will.

I agree with PPs. A guest size of 115 is not a small wedding, IMO. It is his job to keep the party going or find another DJ.

First off, it's not his place to comment on the size of the wedding.

Secondly, it's his job to get people dancing no matter if it's 5 or 500 people.

And what's with the "stay" comment?  Why wouldn't people want to stay?  He's an idiot.

    You need a new DJ.

And if he's with a company, they need to know why.

I'm sorry that your DJ is being a jerk - no excuse for that and it was an inappropriate thing for him to say.  Is he double booked and wants to get out of the obligation?

I agree with the PP's give him a play list remind him of his "job" and have a great time.  Out of 115 guests people will dance or make requests for songs they can dance to.

We're lucky our DJ is so willing to be a part of our day he cut his fee and we have less guests than you do.
