Destination: Guanajuato

Hi everybody!!!

I am trying to plan my wedding in Guanajuato, Mexico, (I'm mexican, but I live in Germany currently). I am looking for something small and personal, more rustic style, but all the Gardens (Jardines) and Haciendas that I have contacted so far, offer me super elegant/expensive packages, that offer me so many things that I don't really want.

It also doesn't help that I have no idea how to organize a wedding, and I don't really have a big budget to be hiring a wedding planner. So I need adivice please!!! =)

Any advice on how to plan a destination wedding without going crazy. Or  more specifically, how to get a nice pretty place without having to get a big package.

I'll appreciate all the help and advice!!!

Thanks,
Isabel

Re: Destination: Guanajuato

  • I would contact a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings to see if they can help with this.  If you want to get married at a resort, they can help you find locations that have certain criteria that you're looking for.  A lot of ladies on here (myself included) used Beach Bum Vacations, which was completely free.

But if you're looking for a location outside of a resort, I would just start telling any place you talk with what your budget is and what you want and see what they say.  They probably do a lot of packages because it's the easiest for folks planning from a distance.  But I'm sure they do something outside of a package too!

If you're looking for more location ideas to check out, you might want to start with booking a photographer that you want from the area, and they probably would have a lot of recommendations for different locations.

    Good luck!
  • Thanks for the recommendations!!!
I haven't thought about contacting a travel agent and that's a great idea! Thanks!!!

Contacting a travel agent is great (I used Beach Bum Vacations, they are great.  My Beach Bum was not pushy and listened to what I wanted).

You can also contact the wedding departments of the resorts you are looking at.  Usually the wedding packages they have include a wedding planner and a day of coordinator.

I don't have any further advice since all of my research includes weddings on location at the resorts I was planning to stay at!
