Vegas but not Vegas - In-Suite Reception

Sadly my vegas wedding is a no go due to a number of reasons - I love these boards and of course, no other compares.

Hoping to pull off an in-suite reception locally here in a penthouse/presidential type suite.  It's not vegas ((((CRY)))), but it is lovely and romantic and in-suite just has more intimate than a small reception at a restaurant.  It will be a little vegas style.

Can I pull this off? I am attaching a pic of part of the penthouse. I have all the same fears, will it be fun, can I pull it off?  My party will be quite small, probably no more than 12!

Re: Vegas but not Vegas - In-Suite Reception

  • Oh wow that suite is excellent! Sorry to hear that Vegas didnt turn out but im sure you will have a wonderful wedding nontheless. You could always decorate/theme your wedding Vegas style ;-)

  • Thanks missmo14!  It has been recently renovated too (less than 2 yrs).  I just don;t know if I can pull if an in-suite reception - seems to be a trend in LV but not anywhere else?

Just looking for ppl's thoughts and any tips on how to make it work!

    Thx!
  • Looks awesome!  You should see how expensive it would be to have a backdrop made of the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign so your guests could have their pictures taken in front of it.  It would be a big hit!
  • And get some showgirls!

  • How come Vegas was a no go? Expense or teouble w/ hotels - I am planning a in-suite and am having difficulties myself.

  • That suite is awesome! You can throw a really great party in there. I don't think it would be weird, especially since it's 12 people. As long as everyone is fed and has a place to sit, you shouldn't get complaints.
  • Doing an in-suite in somewhere other than Vegas would worry me from a hotel policy standpoint; assuming you're having it catered/serviced by third party vendors.

It's easy for third party vendors to cater receptions in Vegas because the resorts are so large that no one has any idea who should or shouldn't be pushing carts of food or furniture through the lobby.  In a resort that doesn't have 500+ rooms, and where the staff are more likely to know each other, you could get busted for having a party that violates hotel policy fairly easy and then they could ask your vendors to leave, charge you a fee, whatever is in their terms of service.

If the hotel is taking care of everything then I'm not thinking there's any reason to be concerned.
