meet & greet question

Ok so I wouldn't dare ask this over on the etiquette board but here it is..
I was really wanting to do the welcome bags but after finding out the hotel charges a 3.00 fee per bag to be delivered up to the rooms I've been trying to think of another way...well we never really planned on doing a meet and greet due to the cost we are paying for our reception dinner along with taking all our guests with us on the photo strip tour but now I'm thinking of doing a meet and greet type thing that way we can hand out the welcome bags.. now would it be bad to not pay for this? I know our guests are coming to Vegas for us and all but I can't afford another few hundred lol so should we just forget the idea or go with it?

Re: meet & greet question

  • We are doing an open house meet and greet with some drinks, no food and just letting people know the info on the wedding days events. It will be pretty casual and open house and people aren't required to show up. :)

  • That's a good idea! :)

  • We are paying for ours but HEAPS of Vegas brides have done a no host meet and greet. Have you found out if the DDB is available the night before your wedding? That could be a slightly cheaper option. Or host it outside of meal times (ie 2 - 5pm). Another option could be something like a buffet where everybody meets somewhere central (with a hapy hour) then you all head off to the buffet and everybody pays for themself. That way guests who just want a casual drink and chat can skip the buffet but you still get to give them the bag.

  • Hmmm Mo those are great options! I like the idea of the happy hour time!

  • We are doing the buffet at Caesars and everyone is paying for their own meal and then we are heading out on the DD bus for 3 hrs, and I plan to hopefully hand out our welcome bags there, but I  still not 100% cause I dont know if it would be a good idea to give them then as they
Will have to carry it everywhere!
  • To avoid that 'carry everywhere' dilemma we have put a deliberate break between our welcome dinner and the bachelor/bachelorette parties that night. Most of the guests will be heading back to their rooms to get glammed up for the night out. Im sure the mini bottles of booze will be very welcomed for their pregaming and the hangover kits will be even more welcomed the next day :-).

  • I don't think we'll host anything either.  About half of our guests haven't been to Vegas before so we don't want to keep them busy every night.  We'll probably just mention that we'll be at a certain bar from a certain time if anyone wants to meet up to say hi.

  • Yea the more I think about that the more I feel like just letting everyone do their own thing if they like.. and if anything if people want we can always meet up :)

  • I'd just let everyone know you're going to be at XYZ at ABC time if anyone wants to meet up before the festivities.  As a guest, I wouldn't expect it to be hosted; it isn't a rehearsal or the reception, and those are the only things I expect to be hosted.
  • That's what im planning to have everyone meet somewhere and the hand out programs of where we will be at what times so I dont have 35 people to coordinate. I was pulling my hair out at trying to coordinate 6 people in Vegas
  • Just do it in the cafe of your hotel or something like that then everyone can just buy their own tea/coffee
  • I would of liked to get everyone to come up to our room but idk how comfortable we would all be in a Neapolitan suite at flamingo

  • Well that would be the best way you could have visit ing hours and have people just drop in. That way you can keep it casual and not have to worry about getting tables and stuff. Heck I might use that idea
  • Lol yea maybe we will :)

  • We are doing our meet and greet in a sky suite at Aria, just a casual open house. We will have a full bar with togo cups so guests can take a drink to go, and we will have some light apps as well.

We will hand out welcome bags as well.

  • Yea that's exactly what I want to do I just hope we can fit everyone lol

  • Can you bring your own alcohol and food into the suites for a meet and greet?
