  Maybe instead of dark colored lanterns, look for white lanterns.  They will not only help to brighten things up but your flowers no matter what the color will really "pop" against the white.

  Yes she is!  She is driving me crazy!   I think her issue is more that this isn't her idea of a traditional centerpiece.

   

  What do you think about linen colors with a light lantern?  My wedding colors are gray and purple (girls wearing gray dresses, purple flowers).  I'm having a hard time choosing colors.  I don't want to darker the room with dark linens, so was thinking a beige color tablecloth with purple napkins.  how will a light lantern look against the light tablecloth?   I'm trying to avoid paying additional for linen colors that aren't included in our package, so choices are limited.   There is a light gray I like as well, although I didn't like the purple napkin with it (not that I have to use purple napkins)

  I think you should use the light gray tablecloth with a white napkin.  Nothing, to me, is better then a crisp white napkin.  Then pull in the purple with the flowers.

  I like the lantern idea a lot - BUT I'm always annoyed when I can't see over the top of a centerpiece (whether it's flowers, a lantern or anything else). If you do this, make sure they're not so tall that guests have to look around them to talk to each other. The one in your first picture looks way too tall. I like the one in the second photo the best.

  oh i def agree!  i hate anything too tall, which is why i don't want huge flower centerpieces.

  I like the lantern look for a spring wedding! At least, we are going it for our spring wedding, lol. Those Pier 1 lanterns are gorgeous. If you're looking to save a couple bucks and don't mind IKEA, this is an option too. You can remove hanging piece on the top:

  We are using lanterns for our April wedding as centerpieces, and I love the idea.  We are using these lanterns from IKEA, and I love them.  They have them in a lighter silver too, but even the black doesn't look too dark because the design of the lantern is very open.  We are doing pillar candles in the lanterns, and since our wedding is in the evening, the candle light from the lantern looks beautiful.  Good luck and congrats!!!
