  Depends on the number of days and where they are flying out from and if it's a "peak" travel time.

  
  

  For Jamaica, a lot of my guests stayed at the Riu Club Negril (my wedding was at Sandals Negril- more pricey than the Riu at the time).  During Presidents week in Feb ("peak") I found flights to Montego Bay on Jet Blue for apx $330 + tax, round trip (they even went down a few bucks the week after we booked, about 3 to 4 months prior to the trip) flying out of NY

  
  

  Their hotel for the week (all inclusive, 6 days) was about $550 to $650 per person (can't remember off the top of my head, wasn't more than that. So thats about $1,000, but for SIX days. If your guests take a long weekend or less days, it could be less.

  
  

  However, I had guests flying out of AZ and TX, that couldn't find direct flights and no flights were less than $600 (round trip).  Again though, this is flying to Jamaica.  They stayed at a different, smaller hotel and I believe paid less than the $550 for 3 days/2 nights, but that wasn't all inclusive.

  
  

  All of that to say, I do believe it's doable, probably even for cancun.  They just have to research.  Also, my mother contacted several travel agents and went with the best deal.  Good Luck!
