Anyone been to Anguilla?

Considering Anguilla but is there much else to do their besides beaches?

Re: Anyone been to Anguilla?

  • The big draw in Anguilla is the beaches and water activities (diving, sailing, etc.) Unlike other Caribbean islands, there isn't quite as much development, tours, etc. There's some shopping, but not a lot. There's one very big championship golf course and some small galleries and art studios. But it's a very, very laid-back but luxury island. Rendezvous Bay is always at the top of the Best Beaches in the World sort of lists.
  • We were dying to go to Anguilla for our honeymoon because H is a big foodie and we heard great things about the restaurants.  We debated between the Viceroy and Cap Juluca, and eventually booked Cap Juluca for 10 nights.  Unfortunately, we rebooked our trip twice because of hurricanes and the third time moved the destination out of the hurricane belt to Barbados.

We are still trying to get there one day.  I hear that it's quiet with amazing beaches, and that you can ferry it to several other islands.  But as PP said, it's just very laid-back.  I would love to go.
