Did you need a purse day-of?

I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a clutch or not.

Re: Did you need a purse day-of?

  • I would skip it. One of my BMs was all into it and carried a day of bag she made, which included my makeup. I think buying a purse (unless you planned on using it again) is a waste of money. I didn't miss it at all. Had she had not taken care of it, I would have stuck my makeup in my moms bag and called it a day.
  • So glad you asked this!! I keep debating this. I DO want somewhere to keep some makeup, phone, hotel key etc, but not like actually carry a clutch. My venue does have a bridal suite. Can I just keep a bag with said items up there as use as necessary? If it's relevant, I'm pretty girly and never go anywhere without my bag. Also, is it cheesy, can I just use my regular purse, do I need a "bridal" purse?
  • I had one, but we had our ceremony and reception at different locations and neither was a hotel. So I needed things like my phone, ID, lipstick, etc.

If your reception is being held where you're staying the night, I'd leave my things in the room.
  • I got a free clutch from VS that I plan on using; it's silver, simple, and can hold my make-up/band-aids/etc. with no problems.

I've also gotten some cute free clutches over the years from VS, or included as part of a makeup set.  The holidays are a good time to check for those kinds of offers if you would buy the makeup anyway.  I'm too far out from my date to be thinking about this stuff, but I am super girly and would also probably want something to carry around my lipstick and hotel key.

  • I don't carry a purse most days, but I also didn't use one on my wedding day. My MoH had pockets in her dress, so she carried my lipstick. The stuff I normally have on me (keys, wallet, phone) lived in my getting ready bag in the bridal suite. I didn't need them at all.
  • I read that if you do have a clutch, have your maid of honor carry it for you.  That way your essentials are nearby, but not in pictures or whatever.  I'll probably do this...
  • @lored you are right... I had a bridal suite too and it was awesome for keeping everything handy. I don't think you'll need a bridal purse unless you want it for photos and stuff. I used my mom's wedding purse and, after pics with the rings and other accessories, it stayed put in the bridal suite. I don't think I used it at all.
