November 2013 Weddings

11 days to go and I'm still sick

I've been sick for two weeks now, been on antibiotics for a week and now have to head to an Ear Nose and Throat specialist tomorrow because my ears still won't clear.  I am beside myself upset, I have so much to do and no energy to do anything.  The worst is not being able to HEAR people.  There is no way I can go through a wedding and not be able to hear my guests :(

  • I hope you start to clear up soon!
  • Make sure you're getting plenty of sleep (I know it's hard).
  • I hope you feel better quickly.

  • The ENT put a HOLE in my ear drum today to drain fluid, it was supposed to give me almost instant relief and he can't figure out why it didn't.  I just give up, and now I'm sitting here crying.  I have no energy to do anything I need to do because I feel so horrible.

He put a hole in your ear drum? I don't want to scare you but please get a second opinion. I have a small hole in my ear drum due to rupturing it a few years ago and it causes pressure, pain, vertigo and ear infections. I am having it repaired after the first of the year. One thing that my current physician suggested that has worked for me to dry out the fluid behind my ear drum is Afrin. I don't like it and he said not use it all the time but that it would help dry out the ear drum from the inside. I thought he was crazy but I was desperate one day so I tried it and it worked after a couple days. I hope you get some answers soon and I'm so sorry you having to go through this!

  • He has me using Afrin too and it isn't doing anything.  I have different pressure levels on the sides of my head and I am about to lose my mind.  I have a follow up with him tomorrow and it takes every ounce of self control not to just sit and cry because I am so frustrated.  This is supposed to be the happiest time of my life and I am just miserable.
