Bustling Vera Wang vw351178

My sister-in-law had an alterations disaster at David's Bridal with the bustling of her dress. Long story short, she hated the bustle (16 buttons!), and in the process they tore it. So she's getting a new one...we'd like to go into the seamstress with some ideas of what else is possible (hopefully not with 10 visible buttons and loops that can be seen on the sheer top layer.

Does anyone have pictures of this dress bustled? (or of one with similar materials...satin/tulle underneath, organza on top)

Here's the dress:

Any help is welcomed--thanks!

  • i always prefer the look of an under bustle, but david's always seems to tell people "it wont work with your dress..."

a seamstress could do a ballroom bustle with the entire skirt or just the organza underneath and the under bustle or regular bustle the tulle overlay.

  • Since the skirt doesn't have a lot of detail in the back, I'd suggest going with an underbustle. All the buttons will be under the skirt, and you won't be able to see it. It'll also have much more support. I got a ballroom bustle for my gown because it has buttons all the way down the back, and the ballroom bustle shows them off.
