Soap or food favors?

I trying to be creative and DIY my favors. I found some small Cotton sachels and will stamp our wedding date and names. I don't know if I should just buy some covered fancy almonds or melt and pour soap into molds. I'm going to be on the water so I'd thought I would use some nautical soap molds.

    Edible favors are always preferred. I don't know when I last saw shaped soap in someone's bathroom. And when I did see them, they were dusty and looked gross.  And if people don't have a nautical bathroom, they aren't likely to want nautical shaped soap anyway. Nautical shaped chocolate? Hell yes. 


    What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    Food. Soaps tend to have a smell and scents are very much a personal preference.

    Nobody ever complains about edible favors. If they don't take one, there's for sure someone who's willing to take their discarded favor. With other stuff (e.g. soaps)... not so much.

    Food. I went back and forth between doing edible favors and doing keepsake or other types. In the end I chose edible (chocolate), and I'm so glad that I did. The guests really seemed to enjoy them.

    I vote edible as well.  The other issue you need to worry about with soaps is where you would place those favors.  Leaving anything scented, such as soaps, near food items affords the chance that your food will absorb that scent and end up tasting like the soap.

    Go for edible!  I would never use the soap.  I hate any kind of "bar" soap.....we use liquid or foaming.  If you take our advice and do edible, I wouldn't do almonds though....I'd go for something chocolate.

    I vote for food.  As everybody already mentioned, soaps preferences are so specific for each person.  Plus, you risk giving a bad time to those who are allergic to certain perfumes or soap types (I guess you could argue this with food as well, but at least they KNOW there's going to be food at a wedding).  Just something to consider!  Good luck!
