What to do?

My fiance's sister is getting married in June and its a beach themed wedding with blues and greens with some other colors. But my fiance and I wanted to do blue and green for our wedding but we are getting married after his sister. Is it ok to do those colors since she's using them or should we choose different ones?

If those are the colors you want, then go ahead. You shouldn't have to change your colors just because you and someone else have similar taste. If it really bothers you though, you can always choose different shades of the same colors.

If you're comfortable with it then go for it! Your sister shouldn't care because her wedding will be the first one anyways so it really just comes down to what you want. You could always do different shades and different flowers to spice it up a bit.

If you're really concerned about it, use different shades. But she doesn't get to reserve those colors, blue and green is a common combo.

Depending on how close together your weddings are, I don't think it will be that noticeable, especially in a different shade and different accent colors. You could add an accent color that really pops so that it just looks different - like an orange or pink.

There are so many shades of blue and green I can't really see a problem, unless they are practically the same shade.

As well, you can always throw in a third accent colour (maybe silver) to add a little more separation

It would also depend on where you're getting married. If she's on the beach, and your in a church, even the same shades of blue and green would look different because of the setting. I think you're fine to choose the colors you want. As PP said, they're common colors to choose.

Go for it. Like pp's said it shouldn't be a problem and there are lots of shades of those two colors.

I agree with PPs. Let me tell you, navy and emerald are a whole lot different than baby blue and kelly green!

Ok. So the same colors are fine but is it ok to do an under the sea type theme with the blue and green since her's is a beach theme.

As long as you have different dresses, different decorations, etc., I don't think it really matters.

If those are the colors that you want for your wedding then I say GO FOR IT! It isn't like everything is going to look the same. You will have your flair and interests shining through despite the colors being the same.
