ADVICE PLEASE

I'm new here, and hoping I can get some opinions...and also hoping you ladies aren't as bad as the ones on the What To Expect app lol. I was engaged to someone else 5 years ago. I found a dress online that I absolutely fell in love with. A few weeks later I stopped at a random shop I had never even heard of and there it was! I tried it on and fell even more in love with it. I didn't buy it, only put it on layaway, and two months later that relationship ended. So, I didn't get the dress. And now, 5 years later, I have yet to find a dress I love as much as that one. I was browsing on Ebay a few moments ago, and guess what came up? That dress, in my size, for $600. My heart dropped. My question is, would it be wrong for me to wear a dress I had picked out for a previous engagement?

I don't think so. What matters is the groom at the end of the aisle. As long as you don't have any qualms about it and you don't picture yourself having the other engagement cross your mind because of the dress, I see no issue with it.

  • Dear,

Really there is no need to be embarrassed with the situation, be confident about your decision and go ahead. the dress is the choice of your eternal, not the one which relates to some other, or you are confined to some half a decade ago stuff. So, be chill and move ahead. Its your heart's decision & don't conflict it with your brain. Exempt the highly budget dress, and move for a previous one
  • If the dress works for you, you should get it!

    Wedding Black & White, Sepia
  • not at all. If it was the dress you fell in love with to begin with I think its a sign it was meant to be yours.  I think it would be one thing you actually wore the dress at your first wedding and then again at a second marriage, but since you never got married I'd say get the dress!

  • Not at all. If you love the dress and it makes you feel good, wear it!

  • A dress is a dress is a dress. :) You didn't throw away all the clothes you wore during your previous relationship, right?  If that dress is the only one that speaks to you - get it. Maybe it will bring this marriage good luck. :)
  • The dress is clearly meant to be. I think that it's the right dress and it was just waiting for you to find the right man. Now that you have, what are you waiting for? It waited 5 years for you....go get it!!!
  • Wow, thanks ladies. I appreciate all of the support! Now if I decide to get it let's just hope it still looks as good on me as it did 5 years ago haha.
  • If you do get it, don't forget to post a pic!
  • There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. You fell in love with the dress for a reason. I say go for it.
  • I say go for it, I'm sure there are plenty of dresses that are sold on ebay that are being sold due to divorce or broken off engagements, that doesn't mean the bad juju is attached to the dress. What matters is you will feel beautiful and you have wonderful love for your husband to be.
