How Much...

How much are you expecting to pay for hair only (no make-up)?
Have you gotten quotes for bridal party hair?

Today when I was at the salon I asked how much this stylist does up-do's for. I explained that it would be a very simple low pony tail curled with a headband for 7 girls. I got a very confident response of, "$60 per head."

Woah... Or is that about right?

Thanks for your help ladies!

Re: How Much...

  • I had my hairstylist do each BM (4 BM and 2 Jr BM) for $25 and the Flowergirl for $20. That was for a wedding in St. Cloud. I would ask your friends if they have a stylist they would recommend and if they would offer a discount.
    I want the COOOOOKIE!

  • Thanks for your help... It did seem a little high to me, but as I have never done this before... I was sorta clueless!

I have been going to this stylist for over 10 years so that's why I thought, hmmm maybe it is this much.
I will be inquiring from within! Thank you again!

I would say that is probably average for the Twin Cities.  You could check with Ficocellos Academy in St. Paul - the stylists have their licenses, but are getting further training - they are generally a little less expensive there.

  • $60 sounds pretty typical. That's around what I've paid in the past for getting my hair done for dances in high school and formals in college. I'm sure there are lots of people around here with recommendations for cheaper places/people though.

  • That's pretty typical for the metro area actually. I usually see anywhere from $50-$80, and of course moms, flower girls and sometimes shorter hair pricing.

I've been looking into hair/makeup too, and the average seems to be $60/70 for hair alone. It is generally, but not always, cheaper to go to a salon rather than have someone come to you. I've also seen some salons (e.g. I think Salon Aura at 50th/France in Edina) offers some cheaper options, like $60 for an up-do, but $40 for a "down-do".

Of course anything labeled "bridal" will be more expensive than what it usually is... but I've heard that with hair and makeup, prices are also more expensive because you do get more time and attention. So while a regular makeup application may cost a lot less than one for your wedding day, you can expect 45 minutes - an hour or more with your makeup artist for your wedding makeup.
  • It is average, if you need any other suggestions look into Aimee Grosso..

I have her booked for my wedding in September and so far she has been great to communicate with!
