HELP! Need an inexpensive caterer!

So I was planning on booking Shoelaces Catering and ordered a tasting and everything from them... however, being in grad school and tons of exams coming up, I didn't get back to her and she already booked someone else now! :( So sad! I was talking to her and was very interested, but she never asked for a deposit or anything but I thought she knew I was going to book her, ugh! Anyways, now I need some suggestions on INEXPENSIVE caterers for my wedding please!

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: HELP! Need an inexpensive caterer!

  • That sucks - it's a tough lesson to learn, but nothing is final with a vendor until you have a signed contract. Shoelaces books fast, we've been using them for years and my sister couldn't even get them bc her date was booked. You can't beat their quality and prices IMHO :)

What is your venue? What type of food do you want? Berwick is the only other cheap and tasty one I know, but I have not have good experiences with them so I don't personally recommend them. But I have friends who swear by them and I can say the food always tastes good.

  • Yeah unfortunately I wish she wrote me before she booked the other bride... but she said she didn't want to bug me... and I wish she did! :/

My venue is Jeffrey Mansion and I wanted meats/good quality food that can also do gluten free. I looked at Berwick but they are quite expensive... Any other suggestions? :/

  • What is budget?? And does this budget include rentals
  • Check Carfangnas and Milo's - not sure on pricing. Hoggy's or City BBQ would be cheap and tasty.

  • Try simply special catering http://www.simplyspecial.biz/.  They were very reasonable for us and have lots of experience at Jeffery Mansion.    GL. :)
  • Email Rosie at Sidecar Global Catering! rosie@sidecarglobalcatering.com

Sidecar does a ton of customized menus, they even did an entire Vegetarian wedding last year so I'm sure they can accommodate your gluten free requirement. Their menu also accommodates many budgets and guest count sizes. Rosie is awesome at making sure you have everything you need from rentals to food.
  • Weiland's Gourmet Market (don't let the gourmet fool you - they do inexpensive catering!)  and also Caterers Three....  both very reasonably price

  • I second caterers three. They were not too expensive and the food was awesome.
  • UPDATE: Hey Ladies! Thanks so much for all your suggestions! I made calls to all of them to compare. But I ended up going with Nicole's Catering!!! (http://www.nicolescateringoh.com/)

I told her what had happened with the other caterer and she was wonderful in trying to accommodate what I wanted and helped cut things and what not to help fit my budget! I also get 2 tastings with her! 1st tasting to try the quality of the food before we actually booked her and a 2nd one to decide which entrees/sides/appetizers we'd like! I'm so glad this worked out! It's been such a HUGE relief off my shoulders now! :)
